    Great Benefits, Career evolution, organization, friendly environment.

    Cons

    Tends to limit your growth if you are not Finnish, decisions usually are very centralized up there.

    Advice to Management

    Trust local employees as they might have very good ideas / suggestions.

    Pros

    Solid company, good ambiance and benefits. They had a staffing agency who was the one hiring, people at the staffing agency were nice.

    Cons

    The three months of temporary employment with the staffing agency dragged to five months. The budget was approved and Wartsila did the hiring took place.

    Advice to Management

    Direct hires will provide a higher motivated employee. Turnover is a constant yet the company should keep highly trained talent.

    Pros

    Lot of travel and you get to see new countries

    Cons

    Finish guys are very rude to Americans.

    Advice to Management

    Get the Finish management out of the US. Even those finish guys with their nationality being American and having finish God fathers from Finland get all the tailored promotions and benefits. There is nothing An American manager can do abt it. You can't change the system. Any American or especially military person will have very hard time. All rules are for Americans but they work around if you are from Finland or Poland.

    Pros

    great benefits as mentioned by all
    for the most part, macro stype managment, you are allowed freedom to do your work
    market leader, usually good / advanced tools to do your job
    company recognizes good employee performance

    Cons

    they make mistakes at times (like all companies)
    in its core form it is a company that provides engineering solutions, there is not necessarily growth available for all functions
    many decisions are made overseas and trickle down to the local company although they may not always make sense due to the local market

    Advice to Management

    stay focused on the future.....

    Lack of opportunities to grow within the company
    Management gave preference to newcomers with potential instead of current employees with potential
    Managers gave hard time to employees who looked for promotion
    Employee turnover seems high

    Advice to Management

    It would be great to create a career path for those who want to grow and care about the company.
    Reconsider promoting newcomers instead of senior employees interested in career advance because it decreases morale of employees
    Be careful with new managers with much power who come drastic change of vision and leadership style because they can affect employee retention

    Pros

    The company has decent salaries, a good benefit package, and option to work from home

    Cons

    Leadership SUCKS, no clear leadership. Management is very insecure about their own positions. No team work, majority of the staff are senior citizens who just need a job prior to retirement, this is not a place to grow professionally. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy

    Advice to Management

    Put some leadership in management, hire people who can actually encourage team work

    Pros

    Responsible for various tasks and learned quite a bit to help with future employment with another company. Responsible for several duties of maybe 3-4 people at other companies which in turn made me marketable outside of the company.

    Cons

    Although I learned quite a bit, overworked and underpaid for job duties. Constant threat of layoff due to jobs being migrated back to parent company and new acquisition failures.

    Advice to Management

    Value long term workers who perform well not just the bottom line according to management
