Not the worst job I've ever had

    Pros

It's pretty hard to get fired, pay is pretty decent after temp to hire conversion and your first raise.

    Cons

Long temp conversion process, limited upward mobility from this position unless you want one of the three jobs that this job feeds into.

Used to be better, now it’s bureaucratic with poor leadership

    Pros

Work life balance, nice people Growth opportunities to a certain point in leadership, then they fall off dramatically

    Cons

It used to be a flat structure with a lot of freedom to do things the right way. Now they’ve added so many layers of hierarchy but still tout that they are flat, which is really ineffective. Leaders are trying to micromanage everyone instead of trusting their employees. They’ve released so many new, mandatory “tools” that they think will help but are killing innovation. They seem to think if they keep doing what they did for the last 50 years they’ll see success in the next 50 - very stuck in their past success New CEO seems very unqualified

    Diversity is a Joke

Aug 13, 2021 - Manufacturing Associate in Phoenix, AZ

    Pros

The only good thing I can say about this place is the hard working manufacturing associates that keep that place profitable, the medical side of course. Another good perk was the ASOP account they put 12% of your pay into purchasing fractional shares of stock, since it is a private company.

    Cons

Nepotism is alive and well at this company. The raises are based on a popularity contest and it doesn't matter how hard you work, if you're not sucking up to leadership then you get little to no raise. The pay is low and they bring in Temps that don't want to work, however the Temps are getting paid the same if not more then associates who have put on their time. This causes resentment on the line and you feel it. They preach diversity, however leadership is majority Caucasian while most of the associates are minorities. It is just a really bad toxic work place and it's too bad because it was pretty good when I started about 10 years ago. However it has changed and it seems like every year the company takes away some perk or benefit from their employees that made it a special place to work. I am so glad I left and hopefully others get out of their fears and jump ship too, trust me, there is better opportunities outside of this place. Bill Gore would be sad to see what his vision and company has become and how they treat their employees, mainly the manufacturing associates who are the blood line of this company.
