    I have been working at W. P. Carey full-time

    Pros

Out of control - nepotism...Dimmest bulb the most lit...climb the ladder with your name...WP Carey...

    Cons

Hard work to no avail unless of course...

    Advice to Management

Read your own business plan...interest rates rising...handwriting's on the wall

    I worked at W. P. Carey full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Friendly staff
Decent benefits (while they're still around)

    Cons

Benefits are being taken away piecemeal. What once set WPC apart (in terms of great benefits) has slowly been reduced to "be on par with the market". People loved being here because it wasn't like the market.

Long hours for the back office people. Little to no recognition.

    No room for growth.

    Managers are inexperienced.

    Advice to Management

Just because the back office doesn't bring in the money doesn't mean they don't work hard and deserve to be rewarded.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at W. P. Carey full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Mid & lower level employees generally nice and nice to work with. Benefits are decent (although not as good as they used to be). Exposure to interesting real estate transactions world-wide. The CEO still seems to very much care about the employees and has genuine interest in the company & the morale of all.

    Cons

Expectations are unrealistic, and the extremely poor planning of a new system implementation project has made employees very stressed and extremely burned out. New management brought in over the past few years has implemented changes in culture & general work environment that create a hostile and dissatisfied work place. The general mentality is that most upper management (not including aforementioned CEO) does not care about its mid to lower level employees, with continual empty promises that "it'll get better" while there is no indication that it will for the foreseeable future.

    Advice to Management

Don't keep throwing unrealistic expectations at the mid to lower level employees and expect them to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to clean up messes that could've easily been preventable. Offer to help out every so often, or show some more support rather than just the "sit back while you sweat it out and fix it" type of attitude.

I have been working at W. P. Carey full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, work is interesting. Company is a leader in its industry and employees feel proud about that. New systems being put in place should ultimately have a positive result on workload and processes.

    Cons

Management is completely disconnected with the rest of its employees. New management that has been brought in over the last few years is trying to redefine the company and its culture. No value for the long history of success. Ridiculous expectations being set in accounting and IS departments.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring all new people and firing those who have worked hard to build company.

    I worked at W. P. Carey full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits (in the looooooong run). If you can tolerate being another suit in a ship full of Borg.

    Cons

The entire office culture is based on white, uptight, frat boys from family connections, stuffy Arian from Darien clubs and socialite wannabes with little to no intellectual curiosity to navigate real world business.

    Advice to Management

Add mandatory diversity training to all levels of employees, including the Board and Executive Committee. The old fogey stogie era is over...it's time to get with the new. The CEO is yet another relative of William P. Carey.

    Advice to Management

-Learn to spend a little more time with the sales team. The effort is noted, but easy to see right through the veil.

    I worked at W. P. Carey full-time

    Pros

-Work is challenging and engaging much of the time.
    -Promotions are possible
    -Great colleagues during my time

    Cons

Current upper management has no concern for employees, only AFFO metrics. As a result of this there have been recent layoffs and salary freezes. This is a part of business but in a company that demands so much from its employees both in technical expertise and overtime worked this kind of treatment is a motivation killer.

Middle management too busy worrying about careers to support employees under them as much of the experienced middle management was let go in 2016.

Complexity of current systems are overwhelming, a combination of legacy system problems being carried over and bad decision making has left many of the processes overly complex and difficult to use.

    Advice to Management

If all you care about is short-term profitability continue on your current track, but to build a company that will excel in the long-term employee welfare should be a primary concern.
