    Pros

Dedicated and focused coworkers, driven to do a good job. Good pay and benefits compared to the market. Overall not a bad place to work.

    Cons

Top management has a tendency to micro manage in a lot of areas. A little more delegation would go a long way from an employee morale standpoint.

    Advice to Management

Work and Life balance could be better. Need to step back occasionally and celebrate the successes - not really a strong point.

I worked at W. R. Grace (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits (health, dental, vision). Family-oriented culture at Deerfield, Illinois location.

    Cons

Wish more had been done to avoid closing the Deerfield, Illinois location. That location had many hard workers as evidenced by the range of years in service which was anywhere from a minimum of 5 years to 35 years.

    Advice to Management

Wish more had been done to avoid closing the Deerfield, Illinois location.

    I have been working at W. R. Grace full-time

    Pros

Great company! The people are excellent and willing to collaborate on projects. My time here has been a pleasure as opposed the other bureaucratic establishment I came from. This company is filled with smart, innovative people and I cannot wait to see how all the change we are going through propels us into the future.

    Cons

With the changes, work life balance can sometimes be challenging, however, it is up to you. Management is in full support of work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Keep your head up and continue doing what you are doing....

    Pros

Great people to work with, very laid back atmosphere. Very flexible with your schedule as long as you get your job done. If there are issues, you can call corporate office 800 number.

    Cons

At the time I was there, I worked for someone who was a bully. I couldn't do anything right. If he said go and I went, he'd ask me why I went.

    I worked at W. R. Grace full-time

    Pros

CEO is personable and will sit with employees in the cafeteria and engage them in conversation. Skip levels are also a common practice, and leaders try to do them outside of HQ when travelling to other sites.

    Cons

Bonuses over the past couple years have not been as high as they historically have been. Hopefully the spin off of the new Grace will help managers reward employees in the future years.
