I worked at W.W. Grainger full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work from home office. Provided with a company car, laptop & phone. Flexible schedule as you schedule your own appointments throughout the week. Knowledgeable and very friendly manager.

    Cons

Since switching to salesforce everything seemed to become driven by that factor alone. Instead of spending time finding opportunity for growth, I spent most of my time logging everything in sales force in multiple different areas. Accounts are also now much more spread out requiring more travel time. New package structure provides less immediate opportunity. Commision is paid out only semi-annually.

    Advice to Management

Keep in mind the reason you have sellers. To sell. Setting unrealistic expectations for salesforce requires more time and energy spent on that than actually going after business.

I worked at W.W. Grainger full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, generous vacation time, these two start on day one of being hired.

    Cons

Zero work live balance, unrealistic expectations by senior management, difficult to get promoted in Macedonia unless you're part of the "in crowd", high turnover of supervisors and team members because of militant leadership from operations & process management. Very hard work for little reward and lastly NEVER knowing what time you will be going home.

    Advice to Management

Stop leading by fear and intimidation. Macedonia does not follow the corporate philosophy , just ask the people on the floor.

I worked at W.W. Grainger (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Long history * great front line employees * stable in the short term * great for acquiring experience * adding new technology

    Cons

Benefits have been eroding over time * contradicting strategies amongst company groups * reverting to a top down unflinching management approach that prevents self learning at all levels * large amount of turnover at the DCs

    Advice to Management

New technologies and larger distribution centers will not be beneficial unless the human aspect is taken into account. What are the motivations of employees? Revamp the training
