I worked at WATERFORD HOTEL GROUP full-time

    Pros

The managers and owners truly care about each employee - they take the time to get to know everyone. There's a real human connection that's missing in a lot of companies.

    Cons

Many of the employees have been here for 10+ years which can make it less appealing for younger employees.

I worked at WATERFORD HOTEL GROUP (More than a year)

    Pros

Waterford Hotel Group does do a good job with providing different activities, incentives, and events for the employees to participate in throughout the year.

    Cons

This company likes to pride themselves with promoting within, but they do not. They do not give current employees the opportunity to move on up within the company because this would mean they would have to pay for training.

I worked at WATERFORD HOTEL GROUP full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked at Marriott in Downtown Hartford as a banquet server. The pay was amazing, far better than any other in the industry. My co-workers were beyond competent, and pleasant. Concerns were always addressed. Definite room for career growth. Company offers full befenits to full time employees. They have fun holiday parties, and offer all their employees free food while on their shifts.

    Cons

Either too many hours, or too few. During most of the year business is great, but summer and holidays are really slow.

Its hard to obtain a full time postion in banquets because of low turn over rates of full time staff, however, its even good as a part time or on call job. Or you can cross train in other departments to make up the full time hours.

If your full time, you need completely open availability. Meaning, you cant go to school or have another job, except possibly an on call job at another banquet place.

    Advice to Management

Good job! Really great company to work for.

    Pros

This company does have a strong commitment to great customer service. They have some really beautiful properties. They offer great employee benefits

    Cons

They don't treat their employees very well from my experience and love to write people up. I have worked many jobs and have never been written up before. My boss just loved to write everyone up including me.

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of your butts. You have a great company you have built but your managers on property really need to learn how to motivate a team.

I worked at WATERFORD HOTEL GROUP (More than a year)

    Pros

On days when it was slow you could watch movies in the back office

    Cons

literally everything. The most passive-aggressive, disgustingly unprofessional and discriminatory. Any negative attribute you can think of, WHG is THAT attribute.

    Advice to Management

FIRE ALMOST EVERYONE. I'm not kidding. There are some diamonds in the rough in upper management but besides that every employee I encountered were pretentious childs who still live in a fantasy land

    Pros

Excellent work environment where employees work together. No gossip, backstabbing, or office politics.

    Cons

Low pay considering the workload. No opportunity for promotion.

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring only those with college education so employees continue to be on the same level.

I worked at WATERFORD HOTEL GROUP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has an employee of the quarter program and at the end of the year they take those four people and choose an employee of the year. I won employee of the year 2009 for the hotel I worked for and received a $500.00 bonus check! They also throw a nice end of the year Christmas party which is fun to go to.
They take care of their employees, the regional manager of Waterford Hotel Group comes out and visits the hotels. You also get continued training, daily huddles, etc. It really is a team environment. Also a nice upbeat attitude to the company. Promotion opportunities within the hotel were great! All you had to do was prove yourself as a good worker and internal promotions were available. I went from being front desk staff to front desk supervisor. One gentleman that worked at the front desk got promoted to work in the sales department for the hotel. Another lady that worked as the housekeeping supervisor got promoted to housekeeping manager. Tons of opportunities.

    Cons

I do not have any cons for this job.
