I have been working at WBB Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - WBB serves a complex federal, healthcare, and military customer base that offer a wide array of opportunities
    - For the self-starter, there are development opportunities, interesting projects, and the ability to work directly with clients
    - The integration of Communities of Practice with the VP-level decision-making enables anyone to step forward and become a thought leader

    Cons

    - Some aspects of the time accounting and billing systems are antiquated and need to be rejuvenated and simplified
    - There is insufficient time allotted for just sharpening the saw, and pressure on daily hours accounting
    - The reporting structure is often unclear, and leads to confusion

    Advice to Management

    1. Find a way to allow 10% of billable time to be used for employee-led improvement projects, such as self-improvement, education, process improvement, product development, etc.
    - Ensure that employees understand that they are allowed to step forward and offer solutions or strategic input. While the CoP structure enables it, many may not feel they may do so or even expected to.

I worked at WBB Consulting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great office spaces
    - Plenty of food, breakfast, drinks available
    - Parking was easy and free
    - Good area to work in Reston

    Cons

    - Lack of good technical leadership
    - Sub-par post-military culture: To be clear I found that the attitudes and interactions were highly nepotistic, rank-centric, and difficult at times
    - Poor IT organization and unrealistic expectations

    Advice to Management

Value outside opinion. I ended up leaving this company because the Old Boys Club was so difficult to work with.

    Pros

Talented part-time and home site consultancy

    Cons

"C" suite is disengaged and just following the Private Equity's requirements. Really high turnover and weak benefits.

    Advice to Management

You can't go any lower...the sub is in the mud...go ahead and sell!!

I worked at WBB Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great co-workers with a very enjoyable daily work environment
    - Despite some cutbacks, benefits were still above average for this area (I worked in 2 other companies in last 6 yrs)
    - Varied projects kept the work interesting, although there is less of this now than before

    Cons

    - CEO acts imperiously - seems to retain his military approach to civilian work (my way or the highway)
    - Internal processes are not smooth (prgm mgt, finances, etc.)
    - Bleak competitive environment due to status as highly-experienced workforce; govt no longer values 20+ yr workforce, so it is a challenge to compete for work against lowest-bidder companies
    - No real progression possible due to older workforce

    Advice to Management

Possibly bring in outside expertise to assess processes and environment to provide honest, anonymous feedback to the C-Suite

    Pros

People are awesome to work with. Very professional and driven to make company better. If you like being independent, this is a good place to work.

    Cons

There is a big gap between the work force and leadership. Not a lot of opportunity for upward growth/movement.

    Pros

WBB hires the best people and doesn't micro manage. They appear to pick the best people in the field and gives them the tools to do their jobs well. No micro-management but if you are lazy or incompetent you are out the door. No C players are allowed. Benefits are good and salary is not the top echelon but it is decent.

    Cons

Some of their clerks at the lower level need training because they are right out of school and lack initiative and the ability to find effective solutions to problems that come up that are not in the cook book. This maybe a symptom tho of the millianial type thinking.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. You are on the right track. Onward and Upwards !

    Cons

No cons so far for me.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be open minded to changes that allow greater employee satisfaction, because they produce greater client satisfaction!

    Pros

Good people in low level positions, HR staff are good and responsive, benefits are ok but could use some improvement.

    Cons

    Everything !

The company is run by the CFO, the CEO has no voice in the company since it was bought out by Lake Capital, a company who buys and sells companies for profits. (just look at their company logo)

The current senior level staff are basically hiring unqualified people to fill positions that are paid peanuts, just so that the overall numbers look good to Lake Capital and their investors.

The financial books are cooked !! if the books do not sure a huge profit margin at reporting time than they are changed to show profit , hell the company can barely pay their bills on time or pay their subcontractors.

Come Oct/Nov time frame is when they start to cut positions to make the company look more profitable.

I'm sure if the Gov't would do an audit on their vacant positions or hiring process or do a financial audit on them, they would be shut down.

This company has a high turnover rate especially with their senior/low level people.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting the CFO run the company to the ground

    Pros

None. This place is one step away from going down the tubes.

    Cons

Senior management has created a textbook for how not to manage a company. Would be a great business case on corporate arrogance and senior management isolation from reality. Senior management lurches from one hair-brained idea to another like a drunk driver on the freeway. There is no top-down loyalty to employees at any level. Because of its gross mismanagement, this place will - and deserves - to fail. I hope someone captures the experience for a business school case study. At least that will be one benefit from the spectacular flame-out and crash.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should be fired. All of them.
