I worked at WCA Waste full-time

    Pros

Pros would be the benefits - medical at a decent rate and you get to drink last Friday of the month with the executive leadership team for "team building purposes" in the executive lounge.

    Cons

Cons to working for a very unstructured company are to hire people that are going to do their jobs not just for title sake - the executive leadership team is highly disconnected from the facts, instead of investigating why employees are disgruntled and apply corrective action, training or a proper investigation they are then sabotaged out and the issues continue. There is an obvious pattern and culture to keep your head down to avoid issues so you don't get fired. Employees from mid management down are expected to do the job of 2 or 3 people while some do nothing but dictate and take credit for others work. By far the worst professional experience of my career -

    Advice to Management

Clean house, start with the highly unethical, unprofessional HR team and executives - they are blinded by bonuses and look out only for themselves.

I worked at WCA Waste full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

$40000 salary, week off to input data into Excel and Trux database. That week off was awesome-there was so much data-I got week off to complete

    Cons

They gave me 4 days training on a job that is 4th most dangerous in US. I asked for more training on the 30 ton trucks and was told we need you doing your job not training. Many people have Died-yes died and safety was implied as part of my title as a manager

    Advice to Management

Train longer so if a driver gets hurt-the route auditor can help on route. I was involved where one accident almost and could have killed the driver or myself. Yes this happened, a 500 pd can or dumpster as we call em-jumped off the locks

I have been working at WCA Waste full-time

    Pros

The desire to be a better company is there, even if not executed properly. Casual environment. Wonderful team and co-workers.

    Cons

Employees are expected to do the work of 2 or 3 people. Little to no direction. Disorganized. Zero training; onboarding process non-existent. No unity across company. No benefits, No vacation, impossible to take time off.

    Advice to Management

Increase staff - nothing is being done efficiently or being reviewed thoroughly when everyone is spread so thin to get everything done. Put STRICT processes in place so everyone is processing information the same.

I worked at WCA Waste full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All of the front line employees are great people.

    Cons

Upper management cannot make up their minds on policies. One day we are to limit the trash, then the next day take it all. All of the customers become extremely frustrated and confused. They have come into town thinking they could do things their way, and have run a very good company into the ground.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what you really want before making policies. When you flip flop the customers and employees lose all faith in your ability to provide a simple service.
