I worked at WCA Waste full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I made some great contacts and built some long lasting relationships during my time with wca. The local team was one of the best in the business.

    Cons

DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA....RVP thrived on drama and misleading information. No loyalty to those on the front line of the company. There was absolutely ZERO management training offered or given. Thrown in the deep end of the pool and expected to swim right away.

    Advice to Management

Take a long hard look at your management strategy. Training for management from bottom to top needs to be paramount for future success of your company. Support your local managers and staff.

I worked at WCA Waste full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nobody in management will care if you are working or not.

    Cons

Absolutely no training or guidance. No interaction with upper managment.

    Advice to Management

Look for other jobs, as this company will not be around long.

I worked at WCA Waste full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro is weekly paychecks.

    Cons

The management is terrible. The tell the customer service reps to flat out lie to the customers. They have weekly meetings where under qualified managers belittle and degrade the employees. They tell everyone how horrible they are and that they need to take more and more calls. Meanwhile the "management " is constantly going out to lunch to gossip instead of helping their employees manage call volume. The company does not care about the customers at all.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time being managers instead of at Applebees gossiping about corporate.

I worked at WCA Waste full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only good thing about this company locally here in Springfield, are some of the employees.

    Cons

The management is absolutely horrible. They have no ethics especially when they call you foul names in front of the whole office staff. They tell you straight up, they won't help you, they won't defend you no matter what the situation, they are in it for themselves and you mean nothing to them. They themselves do highly unethical things, but yet, nothing ever happens. They'll tell you how bad of an employee you are but yet they are doing the very same things and far worse. The upper management team is just as bad. They do not care about their employees, they do nothing to try and improve the work place environment. It was by far, the worst company I ever worked for.

    Advice to Management

Grow up and try to act like an adult. Understand you are there to run a business for a bigger corporation. This is not your company, you do not own this company. Treat people with a little more respect and you might have a better customer response to WCA overall. It is one of the most hated companies in Springfield. Maybe if you would act human, you might not be talked about by many professional companies around town. It's not just your customers.....

    Pros

Good pay, work is primarily independent, fellow coworkers are good folk. You get to buy nice work boots on the company dime as soon as you start so that's a plus.

    Cons

Shady business practices and the worst communication I've ever experienced with a company. Be prepared to deal with unhappy customers.

    Advice to Management

Getting (and keeping) competent employees is worth it in the long run. Customer requests/complaints that are over 6 months old are not accurate, and I would recommend replacing old requests with updated ones rather than throwing them on the pile.

Get things organized, replace all of the higher management, learn how to better assist customers.

I worked at WCA Waste full-time

    Pros

Pros would be the benefits - medical at a decent rate and you get to drink last Friday of the month with the executive leadership team for "team building purposes" in the executive lounge.

    Cons

Cons to working for a very unstructured company are to hire people that are going to do their jobs not just for title sake - the executive leadership team is highly disconnected from the facts, instead of investigating why employees are disgruntled and apply corrective action, training or a proper investigation they are then sabotaged out and the issues continue. There is an obvious pattern and culture to keep your head down to avoid issues so you don't get fired. Employees from mid management down are expected to do the job of 2 or 3 people while some do nothing but dictate and take credit for others work. By far the worst professional experience of my career -

    Advice to Management

Clean house, start with the highly unethical, unprofessional HR team and executives - they are blinded by bonuses and look out only for themselves.
