I have been working at WEX full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

WEX's growth allows for personal career growth if you want it. The culture is very inclusive and transparent. The casual and flexible work environment is invaluable for work/life balance. Overall, a great place to work!

    Cons

    - Put more into onsite benefits - snacks, good coffee
    - Dedicate time for each employee for innovation
    - Reduce the eligibility time for the 401k

    Advice to Management

Run the business units individually. The "Shared Service" model diminishes innovation and depth of knowledge. Resist reverting to a traditional IT support model.

I worked at WEX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Brand new Building With all the bells and whistles, Solid benefits PTO specifically, Semi-flexible Schedule, Some supervisors, fun friendly co-workers, Training Program. Turnover is high so seniority is earned quickly. Performance based bonuses

    Cons

Nature of Work: working customer service in a call center is a high burnout high stress job. Supervisors are hit or miss I was lucky mine was great, Pay is good to start but after about 6 months you are given more work load/responsibilities without pay raise.

    Advice to Management

Give pay raises when employees are given more responsibilities, work hard to retain employees and attempt to improve turnover

    Pros

WEX is a great company to work for. The people are smart, experienced and diverse. The global expansion and product portfolio makes every day challenging and fun. Our customers are from some of the most successful companies in the world. What a great recipe for success.

    Cons

A growing business means lots of change and aggressive timelines. There is always more work than can be accomplished and the days are unusually long due to global partnerships. While challenging, it is a good problem to have.

    Advice to Management

Protect and reward the people who make it all happen

I worked at WEX as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Managers were friendly and fair, no one had crazy demands. They gave a good amount of time to get tasks completed.

The other employees were great, everyone pulled their own weight but not in a hectic frantic work environment. I wouldn't say things were "relaxed" but you didn't feel like the world would end every time a new assignment came through. Which I wish more companies would follow.

    Cons

For me the drive was pretty long, over a 1 hour and half with pretty light traffic. So you can guess what traffic days were like. I would love to have seen more work from home options, or at least working from home on a few days a week.

Pay could have been better as well.

    Advice to Management

Explore work from options, they would really save your employees money from transportation or pay them more. :)

I worked at WEX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People oriented culture that includes walks around the building, teambuilding activities and employee appreciation; Reasonably good benefits; Management has focus on long term

    Cons

In adding the new locations they had trouble keeping the people-oriented culture. Some leaders in Nashville did not reflect the WEX goals. Changes take a really long time to get completed. Nashville office location tough to reach in bad weather.

    Pros

Great group of people to work with.
South Portland Maine is a nice location.
    Have a great business model.

    Cons

Some older employees have a tougher time with progressive ideas.
Can be difficult to get promotion opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Bring in new blood to modernize what is possible and achieve the growth desired.
