I worked at WMS Gaming full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities for advancement and if you work hard it usually does not go unnoticed. Also nice gym, great new building. Nice parking. Good training.

    Cons

The weather in Chicago can be a hassle during the winter. Heard that many people left when Scientific Games but many people do not deal with change that well so I can see how this could happen.

    Advice to Management

Keep what made WMS a innovative fun company, but do not loose sight of that at the cost of employees. Happy employees make the best employees.

I worked at WMS Gaming full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

No more Pros at this time only Cons. The company is a sinking ship about to go to the bottom of the ocean and collapse into millions of pieces like the Titanic.

    Cons

The company got rid of almost all the top executives of the company except for a few after the first two merge/acquisitions, which I don't understand why?? What's so special about these executives that the company kept and got rid of all the others who are more educated and better fit for the company? These executives are useless and have absolutely no knowledge about casino games and lottery what so ever!!!! When something goes wrong, a good hard working employee will get all the heat and get fired, while all executives will be saved. These executives patent new inventions that were someone else's idea. That is an easy no brainer job. These types of executives need to go out the companies main door sooner than later and never come back, especially when dealing with them. These executives are: mean, selfish, useless, simple minded, bullies that are also greedy and well over paid!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Wake up and get rid of these top executives that you don't need!!!!!!! Why waste money on them when you already have someone else doing the same work under them anyways!!!

    Pros

Nice Chicago campus, plenty of off street parking. Hot Dougs used to be across the street. The river doesn't smell too bad.

    Cons

Managment egos bigger than brains. Creepy left wing socialist vibe (they think it's hip). Wants you to be loyal to Managment, but no reciprocity. Unless you kiss butt, no recognition. If your a golden boy (Or girl)you have it made, if not you get to work 60 hr. Weeks and get a kick in the pants.

    Advice to Management

Hard to think of 20 non swearwords about WMS managment.
Love to play the blame game. Anybodys fault but mine. Always looking for a scapegoat.

I worked at WMS Gaming full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people with whom I worked were very good people.

    Cons

Engineering disconnected from real project management lead to poor market penetration and missed essential features. Couple this with the idiotic notion that offshoring would become the panacea for the product ills...ignoring the failures offshoring wrought with their competitors and now the reason for their acquisition becomes clear.

    Advice to Management

Look outside of gaming for examples to guide you
