    Pros

Helping the individuals achieve goals and other life skills. Some coworkers are very good at their jobs and actually care about the individuals.

    Cons

Pay is too low, no benefits ( I had to find other health insurance because I couldn't afford the my employer's healthcare), the staff to client ratio is sometimes 1:20 if there is too many staff out at one time. Staff are immature and have no idea how to take initiative or think for themselves.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay or staff won't be able to afford to work here.

I have been working at WORK full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

What I love most about Work for Progress is that the organization is devoted to doing good work, which means that the company culture is directed toward inclusiveness, friendliness, and support. I also like that the company strongly believes that anyone could succeed as an employee, as long as that person works hard and is devoted. The training program is also rigorous and keeps people sharp. I am consistently amazed at how quickly people learn skills and get promoted within the organization.

    Cons

The hours can be long and, since it is a nonprofit, the compensation is not high. The company provides good benefits, however. Also, it takes a while to get used to the hours and the level of difficulty of the work.

    Advice to Management

It would be great if the company would tailor some of the training to people with more experience at the beginning. Some of the training can be tedious for those with experience.

I worked at WORK part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

flexibility, you'll build great co-worker and even client-to-staff bonds.

    Cons

far too many to discuss: sometimes you aren't paid on time, severely under-staffed, poorly managed, not worth the pay (in fact, pay is not enough). the list goes on

    Advice to Management

hire management interested in managing a facility as work inc., more attention to details and employees.

    Pros

Human Services is a strange place to work. A VERY casual atmosphere parking lot is empty by 5:00. Brand new building, easy to get to.

    Cons

    The pay matches the atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Please bring WORK, Inc. even more into the 21st century, some of the habits are downright painful.
