    Cons

    - Downsized due to low energy prices and many people lost jobs - decisions made fiscal sense - No notice as to last day of work when RIF happened - understandable but disappointing - Energy industry is a roller coaster ride - success of the company is impacted how energy prices are doing but should be expected of any commodity

    Advice to Management

Maintain that great competitive benefits package :)

    I worked at WPX Energy

    Pros

Senior management is mindful that changes need to be made. These are different times for the industry, and they seem to be making proactive adjustments.

    Cons

Despite the remarks above, there are still some very clannish departments in the company. Hopefully those will be cleared out.

I worked at WPX Energy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Really enjoyed working for WPX because of the people. Some companies pay more, but WPX is competitive.

    Cons

Unfortunately sounds like WPX is falling into the slide of typical upstream oil and gas environment of hire on up cycle and fire on down cycle.

    Advice to Management

Treat your people well in good times and bad and you will build loyalty which allows WPX to pay less than others.

    Advice to Management

I worked at WPX Energy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits and pay. Good work-life balance. Free parking, good location downtown. Welcoming culture.

    Cons

2-3 major layoffs per year since 2014. Some of the absolute best and brightest have been slashed out for no reason and with no transition period, leaving those left to scramble and recover. High stress environment. Managers favor cheap, inexperienced new employees and send older employees out to pasture. Major favoritism and nepotism evident. Too many executive changes too quickly and no promotion from within muddied...

    Advice to Management

Pick a strategy and stick with it. Don't abuse your experienced employees. Stop with the quarterly layoffs. You're giving your employees heart attacks.

I worked at WPX Energy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The work culture is very good, along with the employees. Benefits are good, with several health care options available. Time towards PTO is based on experience.

    Cons

It relies heavily on the commodity price. So with low prices in both natural gas and oil, this company is struggling and has laid off a good amount of its work force.

I worked at WPX Energy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits and relaxed atmosphere. Good diversity program during good times (during the bad times the immigrants and disability people will be first to go though).

    Cons

Many of the managers are inexperienced and are afraid of experienced technical employees. That makes it a great place for early career and straight from college employees but chases away experienced middle and late career employees.

    Advice to Management

Try to get more seasoned managers who will attract quality employees.

I have been working at WPX Energy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Energetic and passionate team committed to doing the best for the company, community, and environment. We are given most of the resources we need to perform our very best and those that do the best seem to be rewarded

    Cons

Old habits die hard. In a rapidly changing environment individuals, teams, and managers can change from pioneers to roadblocks. Navigating this fact and staying relevant is difficult and often left up to you to figure out

    Advice to Management

Keep working hard to be number 1 in the company and in the basin
