I worked at WPX Energy full-time

    Pros

Nice people and experienced technical staff.

    Cons

Exec management are all new in their scope of responsibilities, with mixed results since some are not up to the task. Like many drilling companies, the world revolves around the CEO's thoughts or mood. Not open to new ideas.

    Advice to Management

Set and communicate goals more clearly. Default to action instead of stumbling forward when needed.

I worked at WPX Energy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

great hours, benefits, rewards, room for advancement, nice people

    Cons

Some of the Managers do not listen to their employees and show preference to others.

    Advice to Management

Quit letting some employees milk the clock and misuse their PTO days. Employee takes off for doctors and never uses PTO or makes up time.....and goes on vacation for 2 weeks and uses all PTO every year,,,yet at holidays, has more PTO to use.....

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at WPX Energy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

For the most part good people work there. CEO is a true leader and has admirable traits. He's leading the company in the right direction.

    Cons

Incompetence is rewarded. New leaders in HR and IT lack skill and qualifications to do their jobs. They were promoted due to cronyism. Lower level employees, the worker bees, are the ones with the real talent. Employee morale is low as a result.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at how the HR and IT leadership has been put into place. Cronyism exists across both organizations

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at WPX Energy for more than a year

    Pros

Nice people with a good culture. Worked in a remote office and was always welcome.

    Cons

It was clear the company was poorly managed in my short time there. Ridiculously expenses that clearly were out of line.

    Advice to Management

I hope that the narrative has been readjusted to align with realistic expectations.

I have been working at WPX Energy

    Pros

Flexible, making the right changes in today's price environment, decent pay, great retirement benefits, solid new leadership in CEO and COO

    Cons

There is significant change going on at WPX, while these changes are necessary it would behoove management to make these transitions as smooth as possible for existing employees.

    Advice to Management

Keep the changes coming. WPX can become a major player with this new direction.
