"Not a great company to work for"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Current Employee - Supervisor in Tulsa, OK

I have been working at WPX Energy full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Great benefits, but that's about it.

      Cons

Management has no idea what they're doing.

I worked at WPX Energy full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Flexible work schedule and some genuinely great people in certain areas of the company. Workload heavy at times but generally good work/life balance.

      Cons

Unqualified people put in management positions with little or no oversight by superiors. Good ol boy network is alive and well and causes major screw ups to be brushed under the table with no consequences. Demoralizing environment.

      Advice to Management

Clean management house completely in the Williston basin. Stop turning a blind eye to blatant sexual harassment and racial discrimination against whites.

I have been working at WPX Energy

      Pros

Great people and environment. Employee friendly

      Cons

Politics in certain areas has caused a void of leadership. Company direction does not seem real solid. Information technology is now being ran by a group of HR cronies with no idea at all about technology. There is an influx which is demoralizing as more qualified people are available.

      Advice to Management

Bring in solid leaders in all areas that have expertise and can be strategic in the company's success.

        Cons

There were not any cons to working at such a great company.

        Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing.

        I worked at WPX Energy

        Pros

Pretty Good company Truck and Gas Card

        Cons

Lack of management, This company thrives on hiring their buddies, they have people in positions that do not have the qualifications nor the experience to guide the company at all!! If you want to work in an environment where nobody communicates and you are left either thrown under the bus or stuff falls thru the cracks and deadlines are missed, than this is the place to apply too.

        Advice to Management

CLEAN HOUSE in the Williston, you have people in supervisory positions whose resume does not EVEN support them being in that position, they ONLY reason they got it was because they had a good BUDDY recommendation, If you stockholders knew how things were run up here....

I worked at WPX Energy full-time for more than 8 years

        Pros

New leadership should bring needed modern changes to their strategic direction. After being under Williams' wing for so long, they've had a hard time breaking free and identifying themselves.

        Cons

Lack of strategic planning and no clear goals. Little room for growth and good old boy network keep the company in the dark ages.

I worked at WPX Energy full-time for more than a year

        Pros

You'd like it if you want to work for a group of kids with no leadership skills and basic knowledge of the industry. Or if you like to show up every day unhappy.

        Cons

Very inexperienced management. Benefits. Jobs completed way over budget. No structure.

I have been working at WPX Energy full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Many younger people in management, making it a relatively casual work atmosphere. The company tries to give a lot back to local communities.

        Cons

Ranks low in industry compensation packages; lower pay and less vacation than competitors.

        Advice to Management

Listen to the employees; we have good ideas but don't have management (and especially upper management) support in implementing them.

        Cons

If company sells division, better find a job or you will be severed.

        Advice to Management

get employees to work as team.
