    Pros

Policies improved over time, company attempted to become more personable. Company is willing to invest, local management not always willing to invest. Great in-house software links all process from job design, scheduling, art, press, finishing, and shipping.

    Cons

Every minute of every day was charted, graphed, and turned into a metric, even bathroom time is questioned at reviews. Management typically favored individuals, teams, or departments. Procedures would not be followed to improve productivity, rather push individuals to produce more with little to no support. Corporate policies and standard operating procedures would be followed for a short time, only to be abandoned for 'the way we have always done it'. Positions were eliminated that increased productivity and lessened workload on all teams, instead workload was increased on teams / individuals and they expect better results. Management would approach machines and physically increase the speed, or yell at operators to do so. Vacation requests, family emergencies, or sick days were frowned upon, management would scorn employees for missing work, often ask if time off is really necessary. Little to no opportunities for advancement, unless personal friends with upper management, many unqualified people in authoritative rolls that brought little to nothing to the betterment of the work place. Out dated, worn out equipment that local management and corporate wold not keep up, replace, or rebuild.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the people and equipment rather than shut down entire plants.

    Pros

A very fair organization, people work together for the best results. Customers are always our focus.

    Cons

When it comes to that time when reviews take place - cost of living increases need to happen. That's given the employee meets expectations.

    Advice to Management

Management communicates nicely. Always keep this in mind to continually drive improvement. We all can work on in this area.

I have been working at WS Packaging Group part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I'm only part time - since there are 24 hours in a day, and I'm only working 12 of them!

    Cons

This one should speak VOLUMES. They have a suggestion box in Neenah. It is pointless because they have a camera trained on it 24/7 and they will use their "power"to punish anyone who dare offer an opinion that align with theirs. They say they have an open-door policy, but inside that open door is a closed mind.

    Advice to Management

Since you have proven that reality isn't one of your strong points the only thing left might be YOUR unemployment. The hours are brutal, the benefits suck ($6,000.00 deductible to get a cavity filled), the cost of the high deductible along with the deductible eats up 25% of a persons wage - get rid of the self insurance and shop for a better plan.

I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, small team environment works well. Multiple locations are opportunities for transfer if desired.

    Cons

Rapid change of executives multiple times always followed with a rapid adjustment of goals and priorities without time to evaluate the current situation. Long-term, very experienced employees not valued for their contributions become a casualty of the rapid change environment. Training is not a priority - they have great tools that no one is trained to use and they are not willing to pay for adequate training (this is supposedly going to change with the new regime) - we will see.

    Advice to Management

Invest in Training - Value Experience and Willingness to push for advancements of technology and procedures. If you are not going to train your employees adequately to exploit the advantages of the new equipment/resources - you might as well not buy the equipment/resources.

    Pros

Always work... use to be a very good olace to work.. the company cared about there employees. . I dont see that now.

    Cons

They only care about themselves. . Employees are just a number

    Advice to Management

The people who work at the company.. the company should be thankfull to the employees. Without the employees, the company has nothing.

I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, willing to help each other whenever needed. Decent benefits. Learn something new about Flexographic printing just about every day. Fair amount of people that have been with the company or in printing for 10+ years to ask questions if needed.

    Cons

Trying to do a lot with very little creates a stressful work environment. High turnover and then those jobs are not filled. High emphasis on getting "numbers" up on press so there is less down time, but most of that is do to lack of help. One kitter to changeover 6 presses on second shift. Then we have new help, being just one person, they get stressed since they are just learning and leave. Need better management, but it is currently in transition to a new GM and Production manager so we will see.

    Advice to Management

    1. Do not take on more work until we are fully staffed. 2. Actually hire more people, so we can be fully staffed. 3. Offer a shift differential again to help get more people interested in the off shifts.
