I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great for flexo operators, not a digital company in any way shape or form. Maybe a good starter company for someone wanting to get into printing on the flexo end.

    Cons

Company has no real understanding of digital and what the machine is capable of. Their idea of a digital press is to print jobs flexo came up short on.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people who have the digital back ground and training. You wouldn't lose money marking digital operations as flexos. Giving the company better profits in the long run.

I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There really isn't much positives. They will do some fun company outings and bring food in once and a while.

    Cons

No raises in two years, took away profit sharing, bad benefits, said they would hire more people (which they have) but also brought in more work so everyone is still working overtime every single week and weekend, don't train people so ones who know the most end up working even more overtime. The managements amswer to everything is "put them on overtime" it dosnt matter to them since they don't have to work it and can go home to see there family. You can have a day of vacation planned months in advance but week before it they tell you your on overtime that week so the extra hours you work don't count as overtime

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like their lives matter. They would like to have a life outside of work as well. Treat everyone fair and train everyone on all the equipment since you want to work 24-7. Stop taking money out of employees pockets ... cost of living goes up but no raises in two years is a joke

I worked at WS Packaging Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The plant leadership teams are great.

    Cons

No raises, always looking to restructure management, won't backfill very needed positions and will stick all of the work on the salaried managers. Took away bonus program because company is not doing well financially. They've been "working on it" for months, but as soon as they think they have it right, they'll just pull it and change it again. The executives will give bad company news and run the opposite direction and leave the plants to defend the reasoning. Timing of communications are terrible. The executives forget how the decisions they make impact the people of the company because they only care about the bottom line. I think they are trying to cut back financially so much so that the company can be sold, even though they say it's to give raises.

    Advice to Management

It seems like the COO is calling all of the shots, I'm not really even sure why the CEO is still there since he just sits back and lets the COO do whatever he wants. Raises should be your top priority, people are leaving left and right. You can tell people they are appreciated all day long, but eventually words mean nothing.

    Pros

You make money until they close shop.

    Cons

Incompetent management. Doesn't invest money or time into new equipment or repairs. The company only cares about short term profit and not long term growth. 2 CEOs in 2 years. Promises growth but shuts down plants. Constant OT.

    Pros

The best reason to work here is the talent and dedication of the people out on the floor. The ones who actually add value to the products we produce

    Cons

For the last 10 years or more it has been impossible to get required maintenance or any sort of upgrades on machines approved.

    Advice to Management

The honest truth is management is all about the numbers without a clue on how to achieve them. If you gave the people who produce your product fair reviews and raises the numbers would take care of themselves. No raises and no communication along with failing machines is a disaster. You lose the good people and then hire in clowns to replace them and pay them as much or more than current operators. And you actually think we will properly train them ? Not a chance.

    Pros

Not micro managed, just show up everyday and you've got a job

    Cons

Excessive over time, 6 to 7 days a week for months on end. Very unorganized upper management and front office when it comes to the production on plant floor.

    Advice to Management

More experience about the business in front office and management. Humans can not perform top quality and efficiency 7 days a week, what a waist of talent and money from a business standpoint.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people

I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, small team environment works well. Multiple locations are opportunities for transfer if desired.

    Cons

Rapid change of executives multiple times always followed with a rapid adjustment of goals and priorities without time to evaluate the current situation. Long-term, very experienced employees not valued for their contributions become a casualty of the rapid change environment. Training is not a priority - they have great tools that no one is trained to use and they are not willing to pay for adequate training (this is supposedly going to change with the new regime) - we will see.

    Advice to Management

Invest in Training - Value Experience and Willingness to push for advancements of technology and procedures. If you are not going to train your employees adequately to exploit the advantages of the new equipment/resources - you might as well not buy the equipment/resources.

I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, willing to help each other whenever needed. Decent benefits. Learn something new about Flexographic printing just about every day. Fair amount of people that have been with the company or in printing for 10+ years to ask questions if needed.

    Cons

Trying to do a lot with very little creates a stressful work environment. High turnover and then those jobs are not filled. High emphasis on getting "numbers" up on press so there is less down time, but most of that is do to lack of help. One kitter to changeover 6 presses on second shift. Then we have new help, being just one person, they get stressed since they are just learning and leave. Need better management, but it is currently in transition to a new GM and Production manager so we will see.

    Advice to Management

    1. Do not take on more work until we are fully staffed. 2. Actually hire more people, so we can be fully staffed. 3. Offer a shift differential again to help get more people interested in the off shifts.
