I worked at Wachovia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They provided good training. I worked in a busy branch so it was a fast-paced environment. I liked it because it was never boring and the day flew by.

    Cons

Teller manager was not flexible with scheduling. It was a mission to schedule doctor appointments. Progressing in the company was not an easy thing to accomplish.

    Advice to Management

Provide more growth opportunities to current employees that want to better themselves.

I worked at Wachovia full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Systems and products were strong. Benefits were good

    Cons

Bureaucracy, Getting things done was difficult. Mediocracy was celebrated.

    Advice to Management

In your rush to centralize functions, don't "dumb down" jobs in the field. Your customer-facing people know the client base the best. Give them the authority they need to look a customer in the eyes and do what they need to do to get the job done.

I worked at Wachovia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good opportunity for broad range of skills and background; Open and tolerant of different backgrouds and cultures in certain positions. Compensatyion lower to mid range for most positions A company this large is full of change and opportunity but not a place to build along term career after 5 or so years move on.

    Cons

compensation under constant annual modification and review Metrix driven bonus and commissions are always extremely demanding and designed to be very very difficult to achieve. Almost impossible to recieve above avg ratings such as "meet and exceed". Performance reviews are very tough and even unfair and forget about "discussing or changing" no such thing. You will be part of the CYBOG

    Advice to Management

    none

    Pros

Great discounts on banking services and loans. Used to be alot more pros until Wells Fargo took over and ruined a great banking model.

    Cons

Was a great place to work until Wells took over. Wells cut the ability to make commission and started getting rid of all highest paid employees and hiring people for half the money. Training went to s@@t too as they only provide new hires with about three weeks of training. Let's just say they get what they paid for as half the new hires either quit or are fired withing the first six months. My clients that get to deal with the "new employees" always complain how incompetent they are. This approach to business does not work, or at least it does not work in affluent market areas as most of the clients started jumping ship as soon as wells started making changes.

    Advice to Management

You get what you paid for and it will come back to bite you in the ass. Everyone is leaving because they are afraid of being let go for making too much money.

    Pros

Wachovia was a great company to work for until Wells Fargo took over! The pay is okay and the benefits a great.

    Cons

SALES!!! SALES!!!! SALES!!! Wachovia used to focus on service but since Wells Fargo took over it's all about shoving products down customers throats!

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect. I always felt like I gave 110% but it was never enough for upper management.

    Pros

Wachovia has great benefits, some good people to work with, some great customers, pay is okay, and training is efficient.

    Cons

Downsides at Wachovia include hard to move up unless you are a favorite, pay could be better, and you don't get much back in terms of yearly pay raises.

    Advice to Management

Make good judgements on who you allow advance, sometimes there are other tellers saving others by picking up their slack so the branch runs more smoothly.

    Pros

The job has nice benefits. It is a steady paycheck week to week. It offers a good amount of time off

    Cons

The job can be a little boring. Not something I would want to do for a long time. Again boring

    Advice to Management

The leadership is fair. It communicates pretty well. Perhaps to many bosses to answer to. Need to trim the fat abit

    Pros

Compentation for performance is higher than most banks at the personal banker level. Also, the financial center manager is not your direct supervisor. Also, you have room to specialize in small business, investments, leadership, consumer loans, etc.

    Cons

Constant slashing of incentive pay, decrease of incentive based on overall branch service scores despite personal performance, decrease of incentive based on "book of business" decline. Combined, these two reductions can be as much as a 40% overal decrease in your incentive for the month. Now, Wachovia has priced themselves out of the loan market due to their purchase of Golden West

    Advice to Management
