I have been working at Wachovia part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The paid-time-off, friendly coworkers, and great managers.

    Cons

The policies, inflexible hours, sales-pushiness, stress for lack of staffing, and no proper on-site training development for beginners.

    Advice to Management

Understand how the level of staffing can affect customer service and smooth operations. Don't expect to have low investing in training, low staffing, high sales goals expectation, 100% customer service, and a fast experience. Do not throw your new tellers in a drive-thru with four lanes by themselves until they are prepared.

    Pros

Bankers hours, being able to build relationships with customers, a small setting which allows for a feeling of family if working with the right people, paid holidays. With the right management and no micromanaging, it had the potential of being a great job.

    Cons

If you were really good at your job, then promotions were not offered because you were filling a need in your current position. There are many years with no raises and its blamed on mergers. It is my personal opinion that yearly reviews are done in a matter that justifies no annual raise. You cannot rely on mngmt's promise of advancement. It is placed before you like a dangling carrot so that you will go above and beyond but when the time comes, it does not come through. There was a lot of animosity between management and other workers.

    Advice to Management

Please encourage workers with possibilities of advancement not morning meetings where you are told you will lose your job if you don't open accounts.

    Pros

Benefits package is nice. PTO and prescription drug. Pay is ok

    Cons

It is a sales position. Customers do not matter, hit your goal at all costs!! Every hour your manager asks how many accounts you have. Managers do not help with customer issues, they pass the issues on to the bankers and are not very well trained. Most managers do not have recent experience as bankers or tellers. They do not know company policy and state it is their job to "help get the numbers" not to help with customer issues. Constant misinformation---policies are changing daily. Commission is more or less unobtainable.

    Advice to Management

Train your staff and care about the customer. They are why we have jobs. Take responsibility.

    Pros

    Great benefits. Salary is competitive.

    Cons

Management focuses on sales results only. Little training is provided to employees that are competent and responsible to improve their sales abilities. These employees are threatened and quickly managed out.

    Advice to Management

Manage your resources by identifying employee talents and provide opportunities for employees to get better at their jobs. Many good employees have left based on narrow minded leadership.

    Pros

Great discounts on banking services and loans. Used to be alot more pros until Wells Fargo took over and ruined a great banking model.

    Cons

Was a great place to work until Wells took over. Wells cut the ability to make commission and started getting rid of all highest paid employees and hiring people for half the money. Training went to s@@t too as they only provide new hires with about three weeks of training. Let's just say they get what they paid for as half the new hires either quit or are fired withing the first six months. My clients that get to deal with the "new employees" always complain how incompetent they are. This approach to business does not work, or at least it does not work in affluent market areas as most of the clients started jumping ship as soon as wells started making changes.

    Advice to Management

You get what you paid for and it will come back to bite you in the ass. Everyone is leaving because they are afraid of being let go for making too much money.

    Pros

micro managed, 3 months black out for pto, time off if approved not timely

    Cons

no real chance of making goals or making commisions- set the bar so high- hours of calling customers by phone

    Advice to Management

Its human nature to not give when you force employees to work 6 days a week floating holidays are joke

    Pros

-Opportunity to grow if you are sales oriented and make a good impression to upper management.
-Decent salary (negociate if you have experience)

    Cons

-The company culture is too sales oriented. Upper management and even branch management does not care if its a slow day or if you don't work much.. they expect core sales goals ot "solutions" to be met daily.
-We did not receive a pay raise the past year
-Wells Fargo's benefits package is horrible
-Bonuses seem non-existent, they dont compare to previous Wachovia structure.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employee's, no one is happy. Have a training program in place to help with sales. You can't expect people to sale without training.
