I worked at Wachovia as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked with some great people, and tackled a lot of issues.

    Cons

Only wanted contractor positions, and wouldn't hire, despite several awards and praise while contracting.

    Advice to Management

Don't be cheap, and farm out the support. Hire the talent, that's proved themselves. We could've had a great relationship, for years to come.

I have been working at Wachovia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great group of people to work with. Overall I was satisified with the work and what was required of me.

    Cons

Did not really seems like anyone was interested in promoting me or helping me advance my career. Was told that they knew I was being paid a below market salary - but if I wanted an increase to market rate I would need to get another job offer. Then we could discuss the possibility of an increase. Funny thing is I actually did that - but then took the other job resluting in a 40% salary increase.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    Cons

it was a great job while it lasted but the industry bottomed out and we were let go in a large group of 7k.

I have been working at Wachovia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Provided position for initiation and development successful career as financial professional.

    Cons

Advancement and tenure of Financial Specialist leading district in most categories of performance review was limited by mismanagement and micro-management of very young and inexperienced manager, no longer employed by Wachovia. Employees in comparable banking positions are shocked by the reasons for which I was written up: 1. Followed instructions of telephone to support customer by replacing single checking account rather than taking extended time to reconfigure initial terms (at time the only representative serving extensive line of customers). 2. Initialized, but immediately canceled before transacting, wire transfer requested by telephone by customer claiming to need funds for medical emergency; 3. Misplaced - but later relocated - deposit slip for new CD. 4. Opened checking account for customer with temporary license (account was opened with cash deposit, no withdraw allowed for funds beyond initial cash deposit until presentation of permanent license.
Notes on U-5/U-5 have virtually ruined career opportunities of highly professional who did no violation of ethics & who provided consistently excellent service for clients.

    Advice to Management

Provide opportunity for employees to review case with manager of immediate supervisor (Regional versus District manager).
