I have been working at Waffle House full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

WH offers people a great work environment and some good benefits

    Cons

WH sucks when it comes to offering management positions to its employees, they would rather hire outside the company then invest in its employees that are all ready there and are wanting to advance in the company Very unfair

    Advice to Management

Check with ur employees and see if u have anyone interested in ur management positions and give them the first choice of becoming a manager instead of hiring outside the company. People may want to stay longer with ur company instead of considering employment elsewhere

Great pay and stock program, great development for promotion, from unit to district. Always have constant communication with up line.

I worked at Waffle House full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Waffle House was the most fun place I ever worked. I was on third shift weekends and we would get some of the best people I've ever met as customers. The work was strenuous but enjoyable and when we had a good team together it was a wonderful experience. You could make pretty decent money if you had a good night.

    Cons

On the other side of the coin, the atmosphere could get toxic. Some of the cattiest people I've ever met were my coworkers. Management was constantly telling different people different ways to do the same thing. The paycheck was almost nothing and there were nights when you couldn't make any money at all because no one came in. Furthermore, if you counted tips and didn't make enough to cover minimum wage, they would fire you so if you had a long dry spell where not many people came in, you wouldn't make any money.

    Advice to Management

Respect your workers but also keep them in line. Don't allow gossip to run rampant through the ranks. And train your employees consistently.

I worked at Waffle House part-time

    Pros

Nice people. The bathroom was never disgusting, however, I only worked in the mornings and afternoon.

    Cons

The pay is horrendous. I worked near a college campus and my tips weren't great. The manager had favorites, which was fine with me, however, since she smoked and she needed smoking buddies, she always give them their 15 minutes break, while I had to sneak my breaks in.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job giving people their allotted break. Being a server is not easy.
