I worked at Wagner Equipment Company (More than 10 years)

    Pros

working with external customers in the heavy equipment field you get to meet a wide variety of hard working individuals trying to better

    Cons

Unless you have the right last name or know someone who does, you won't get far in the company. You will have work that isn't related to your job piled on you without getting a updated job description or title.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your business unit managers have the skills to do their jobs and lead their teams. Stop playing the 'favorites' game and understand not everyone has your best interest in mind when they come to work every day. If your focus is going to be on 'one professional team' you really should make sure everyone is held accountable to that goal and not chastised for bringing it up when departments aren't following them. Additionally, nipping racist and sexist comments in the bud should be commonplace instead of reprimanding the person who brought it to the attention of their manager, "mind your own business" is not an acceptable response.

I worked at Wagner Equipment Company full-time

    Pros

Wagner is a stable family business. The Wagners care about their employees, offering an excellent healthcare plan and a generous 401k plan. They care deeply about safety and work very diligently to maintain a very safe workplace. Wagner doesn't expect people to work 60 hour weeks, but naturally does expect you to work while you're there.

    Cons

Change is difficult to impossible. Women's comments are ridiculed. A man saying the exact same thing a woman said, but ten minutes later, will be lauded as a genius. Wagner has an unfortunate culture of bullying, having rewarded and promoted bullies.

    Advice to Management

Deal with the bullies, using education, discipline and termination when needed. Hire, listen to, and promote women. The diversity will serve you well.

I have been working at Wagner Equipment Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company with many departments and job selection. Fair benefits, 401k with some company match.

    Cons

Dealing with people who jump before they research often degrade an employee in order to keep wages down. Never give high reviews in this keeping wages low. Often overlook all the things a person does to help gives the feeling of not valued.
Often use of poor ethics like having agreements with other co. As to not competing for techs by not hiring out of the other co. Staff. Also a way to control costs of labor.

    Advice to Management

Loose the idea that the way to control costs is to hold people down. Listen to your people don't try to cover up or sweep under the rug when a problem is found find and fix the issue the core issue and in a timely manor not six months later.
