There have been some changes recently, but coming into a beautiful campus every day definitely is great. There is a great employee support system with HR who are very receptive to any questions.
Cons
Even though it IS primarily a university, having more lunch options on campus during the summer would be excellent.

Salary of 32,000. Merit raises of 1.5% and 1% of salary was taken to park on campus beginning 2016

Faculty and Staff are both welcoming and extremely supportive. I've enjoyed my time here.

Laid back department with great resources and connections. Great work environment! There are many opportunities to collaborate across the university or with other labs at the medical school campus.
Cons
Expectations aren't always clear. The current chemistry department needs severe remodeling. Teaching labs can be a big headache because of poor communication with previous lab coordinators and overall disorganization of information.

Pros
This is one of the highest-paying student jobs on campus and was great for developing conflict-resolution skills
Cons
Upper-level supervisors, with some exceptions, were often disconnected to the issues facing the undergraduate resident advisors and entirely ignored placement preferences

Good place to work
Jun 21, 2020 - Graduate Research Assistant in Winston-Salem, NCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great campus, and plenty of events you can join in even as a grad student. Housing and cost of living overall in the area is cheap.
Cons
Pay is low (for graduate students, not for staff/faculty), but you're going to find that at most places. The cost of a parking pass was ridiculous.
