I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

My supervisors were very supportive of my goals to get into pharmacy school. The work was manageable even though things got hectic at times. As long as you search out coworkers who were productive and understood what was needed to succeed in retail, you can learn from them and have a good experience.

    Cons

In retail, there will always be employees who are not a good fit for this environment. However, most these employees leave the company eventually.

    Advice to Management

I would have liked more open communication and reporting on the state of the company, especially during economic downturns and major changes at the corporate level.

Former Intern - Certified Pharmacy Technician in Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Walgreens as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

you just work. it's a good place to learn when you're just starting out

    Cons

there's a lot of floaters, you need to be able to handle good relationships with all types of people even the uncalled for. there's a lot of disorganization with certain sites running on Externs and Interns in training. and when your training your mainly filling, it's hard to get the customer service and insurance training in the allotted time and if you're lucky you can compound under the pharmacist supervision.
