I have been working at Walgreens part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you get a good Store Manager and nice crew, the teamwork model at Walgreens works spectacularly! I love the flexibility in scheduling, and the neighborhood feel of the stores.

    Cons

Ever since merging with Boots, the restructure of the company has been a little concerning. Management has become distant and doesn't spend as much time on the floor with the team anymore.

    Advice to Management

Please consider giving better incentives to team members who work hard for 40+ hours a week for chump change.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Stable, good pay, great benefits, wonderful coworkers, opportunity for advancement, fun, face paced, always learning

    Cons

Like all jobs it can be stressful, more to do than time or staff to do it with, physically demanding.

    Advice to Management

Great job getting back Tricare, love the B2K, increase budget hours to relieve employee stress, don't let anything from deterring us from our focus on health and cosmetics.

I have been working at Walgreens part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Staff is very friendly and outgoing. Gives you all around work-experience. For people who like to interact with all kinds of people.

    Cons

Physical labor (not that hard). Training does take a while. You will have rude customers who will test you. Everyday will be challenging if you don't have the right mindset

    Advice to Management

I feel that management should all be on the same page, some managers are on different pages which causes workers to be confused.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

work is usually slower paced, you get the opportunity to actually interact with customers, and actual customer reward system that's point based, 5,000 points = $5 off a purchase (from $1 to $50), most of my coworkers and managers are friendly, there's a seniority aspect so the longer you've worked there the better chance you have of getting better shifts/hours, 15% discount on name brand items and 25% on Walgreen's brands.

    Cons

survey-driven like most retail places, so you have to peddle for good surveys and if the store receives one bad survey it destroys the monthly average. Flaws in the inventory system lead to lots of visual and system outs, expired food that sits for months on the shelf before its noticed, weeks to receive certain products. Communication issues between staff, especially people who work nights or weekends and don't ever see the head manager - they're never given any briefings on changes, scams to be aware of, recurring shoplifters to watch out for, etc.

    Advice to Management

Better communication needed between all staff members, more willingness to fire managers who are all around bad at their jobs even if they've been with the company for several years

I have been working at Walgreens part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You earn time that turns into paid time off. They work with your schedule as a college student. Hours are respected and given to those who work.

    Cons

Management doesn't teach everything you need to know on time and expect you to do it yourself. The building is not always under OSHA regulations.

    Advice to Management

To be professional and avoid favoritism.

    Pros

Good entry level job for customer service experience.

    Cons

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Inclusive
    Friendly environment
    Quick and friendly service
    One stop shop
Advanced pharmacy service and knowledgeable technicians
wide range of products and services

    Cons

Sometimes slow wait times when customers drop by short/no notice
Wide patient volume during busy hours (aka rush hour)
Occasionally short on certain items time to time

    Advice to Management

More pharmacist hours - mid shifts help bridge the gap between multiple daily rushes and allows one pharmacist to focus on product review.
