I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Cannot think of any

    Cons

Hours constantly cut by corporate even though we are already extremely short staffed, insurance issues are always your fault,

    Advice to Management

Not necessarily advice to management but advice to corporate.....
90% of your employees are unhappy. It makes absolutely no sense at all to cut hours and expect more production from the pharmacy. If you go over your hours, you are disciplined. Most corporate employees have never worked in a pharmacy, therefore they do not know how stressful and busy it is. I've worked at 3 different locations and every single person that I have worked with absolutely cannot stand our corporate. This company makes so much money it is unreal. Technicians should not be making anything less than $20 per hour, especially when pharmacists make 6 figures starting out.

I worked at Walgreens part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is an okay job for a high school student or for someone going to school and using Walgreens as a short term option. However making a career out of it would only be an option for management postions and even at that it would still get old.

    Cons

The company does not care about the employees. If we had to open the store early, an hour or two before we opened the doors, the air/heat was controlled by corporate and you worked with it hot/cold until the store opened. The store that i was at, the manager a lot of times had no idea about the problems going on between the employees of the store and the employees got away with a lot of things that should have been addressed. There was a lot of theft at the store i worked at. Other employees would steal your lunch or your uniform when new uniforms were ordered. It was never addressed and no one ever got into trouble because the manager could never confirm who did it. My uniforms were stolen twice... Employees who were lazy were overlooked and never reprimanded. There are many other things that happened when i worked at that store but it would take too much time to list them all... Basically there were too many chiefs and not enough indians.

    Advice to Management

My manager was a good employee but a terrible manager of the employees at my store. In order to manage you have to be aware of the situations going on in your store, otherwise the employees run the store...

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you want to work retail your entire life, I suppose you have opportunities to move up

    Cons

Incompetent and lazy leadership, heavy workload, always in a rush to get things done

    Advice to Management

Hire more people, let associates that you're severely underpaying have less responsibility.

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Discount. People. Nopros nopros no pros

    Cons

The discount was great considering that I spent half of my paycheck at Walgreens. The company counts on it's employees to shop there.

    Advice to Management

Make a stand to senior management. You will all be fired anyway so FIGHT!

I have been working at Walgreens part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    most coworkers are friendly enough

    Cons

    low pay
    terrible management in most stores
corporate has expectations you can't physically meet
    not enough staff members working
not encouraged to go higher in the company
corporate and management don't ask for your advice
don't miss work, ever, because you will be told after a few times that you will get fired if you call out any more than 5 times in one year.
Maximum of 25 cent raises once a year
Unless you have seniority, expect to work only nights
I really could go on for another few pages about the cons of working here

    Advice to Management

I have been working for Walgreens for two and a half years now, and I loved my job when I started. Two years later, I hate the company with every bone in my body. You have taken away almost all incentives for the work that we do. Now, with this new lay off that you've - for some ungodly known reason - done, we don't have enough man power to actually make the stores look nice. Everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Customers have complained that there's not enough people on the floor to help them when they have questions; they have to search for someone. With this new lay off, we now no longer have anyone that can come help out when someone calls out sick. So one manager and one cashier are expected to run the store the whole night. This does not allow anything to get done. I don't know what you have to do, but you need to put more staff in the stores. We need more hours, and better pay would be nice, because I can't afford to live off what I make at Walgreens. I'm very disappointed in the way the company is turning out, because I had so much motivation when I first started my job and I had planned on moving up in the company, but now my motivation is dead. A lot of employees are actively looking for a new job. You need to take care of your employees. Give us incentives back that you use to have. Actively ask us what we think could improve the company. Make us feel like we actually matter to you. You might be management and corporate, but you need us, and none of us are going to stay if you keep this up.

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Retirement benefits are the only reason to stay long term. The upper management is unreliable at best and constantly disorganized.

    Cons

Working there was the worst experience of my professional career.

    Advice to Management

    Be real. Be honorable.
