I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay, great coworkers, good benefits, lots of work sites

    Cons

Very little corporate support, employees aren't a priority

    Advice to Management

Provide more support and hours so that employees can get work done in a reasonable manner

I worked at Walgreens part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working around nice people and learning many new things in a very fast environment. Lots of very interesting people come into the store.

    Cons

Tedious boring and thankless low paying work at night and weekends holidays and never getting time for family things. Terrible pay.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Customer service oriented, ability to transfer anywhere in the country.

    Cons

Recent management changes have been very disruptive. Less focus on staff as an asset just hands to work. New focus on cost vs value and the effects. Lack of true performance culture based on personal assumptions.

    Advice to Management

Staff from cashiers to shift supervisors are not just cogs on a wheel.

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to work at lots of different locations. I got moved 3x per year, and subbed at another 4. This is great if you like that kind of thing.

    Cons

Politics in promotions, not merit. Female employees are treated with contempt, especially by male management. Far too few employees working in the 24hr. stores at night create completely unsafe working environment.

    Advice to Management

Transparency in salaries to force the company to offer wage parity. Stop promoting people on anything other than merit. Staff properly to keep your team safe. 2 employees in a 50K square foot building open 24hrs and located next to a Section 8 apartment complex with regular violent crime occurring is criminally negligent in my opinion.

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Health Benefits, lots of experience learned.

    Cons

Employees do not come first. No Family value. Got transferred to a different location once a year, sometimes to locations over an hour and a half away. No breaks or time for rest and very little support from upper management.

    Advice to Management

Remember your roots and what made this such a great company in the past

I worked at Walgreens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working from home policy, Walgreens clinic, employee discounts with own brand items 25% off, employee training onsite, internal job opportunities,

    Cons

Work to death, out dated insufficient system, poor supply chain, people are mean, merchandise ad supply chain aren't working together, stressful environment

I worked at Walgreens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Walgreens has a lot of benefits for employees. More than what Manager think. They pay more than the minimum. And their employee discount ir one of the best.

    Cons

Even with the salary, employees are underpaid for what they do. Shift Leaders expect employees to do all so they can sit at the office to do nothing. ASM are fighting between them and Managers have no control most of the time because they are not at the top of situations.

    Advice to Management

Leave the confort zone an do your job. Your store is not the responsability of your employees. The store is your responsibility.

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The discount is much better than others offer. The stores generally have a happy/fun atmosphere to work in.

    Cons

Management doesn't handle problems when they arise. Management picks favorites. Management is not effective. Will hire anyone regardless of how they test/interview.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As employees we get Walgreens perks and discounts as well as store discounts

    Cons

Pharmacy work flow is inconsistent, if I have an emergency and need to leave work due to a medical condition I am harassed and/or bullied, loud and hostile work environment, little to no professional communication amongst team members, etc

    Advice to Management

Please advise team members about bullying and overworking an employee and how it takes a toll on the emotional and physical well-being of the employee being/feeling attacked

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You might save $100 a year with an employee discount ... but probably not. You will have no end of mindless activity if you are into that challenge.

    Cons

    Pay is horrible.

16/hr for Pharmacy Tech top end

13.5/hr for entry level manager top end

Opportunities at store level are at best 47K for ASM

55K for starting SM... a ton of responsibility with no real authority.

Insurance use to be top rate. It is now cut rate.
High premiums with very high deductibles.

Bonuses have been routinely cut over the years

Raises have been based on minimum wage adjustment.

Growth has been fueled on frugality(thanks Boots Alliance) ... enjoy the stability and futility.

Advice... be a pharmacist... and work somewhere else.
