I worked at Walgreens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone treats you like a family and knows how to have a good time while still taking things seriously. Managers and co-workers will take time out of their schedule to help you out with anything you need and will even do things for you on your birthday and stuff. Excellent training and benefits, will definitely recommend.

    Cons

I must enter five words here even though there are no cons.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is always a lot to be done so expect to learn and help out in all departments. Expectations for store shift lead were clear and to the point, management would help clarify any issues you may have.

    Cons

For what is expected of you in this position they give you little to no power to do the job especially in regards to managing employees. If other management calls out expect to be working a double shift if no one else is willing to come in. Some store managers were impossible to deal with, some were fantastic though.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that your store managers are the right people for the job, they can literally make or break the store atmosphere.

    I worked at Walgreens part-time

    Pros

Lively atmosphere; inherently interesting subject matter; opportunity to be helpful to the community

    Cons

Severely low wages, even for nationally certified technicians; Very long shifts and inattention to workers' need for bathroom and food breaks; Pharmacists are vastly overworked at high-density locations, and their stress levels can too often manifest in curtness (or worse) to techs

    Advice to Management

Pay rate is so out of whack with the skill level required for this work that it would have to be doubled to approach a meaningful compensation level.

    Pros

The Customers can be some of the nicest and most caring when you get to know regulars, the coworkers are very fun to be around and you can have fun even while you are working and not even feel like you are doing so, the pay is extremely good for being just a cashier and the benefits if you are a full time are very nice.

    Cons

They have a very difficult keeping people at times, they aren't willing to work with you if you have more then 2 jobs and want them to be your main job and you work around their schedule, and at times it can become hectic due to the lack of people.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You will likely find some good people to work with and probably have a lot of opportunity to develop skills working with diverse people, difficult customers and overwhelming situations.

    Cons

Excessive workload. Corporate has absolutely no clue how much labor it actually takes to get tasks done, so they short every store on labor budgets and then expect miracles. Benefits, Pay, Hours, have all gotten cut every few years, usually with new CEO's. The current CEO is completely incompetent and HR protects troublemakers as well.

    Advice to Management

Get into the stores and actually spend a few weeks during the holidays doing the grunt work with the rest of us. It's actually a real research method called participant observation and it works. If you bothered with it, you may begin to actually realize how much money you are wasting on completely worthless signage and marketing while neglecting what would actually make a difference, labor. Customers do not care if there are nice signs and advertising all over the store, what they want is an employee who can help them find what they need, or employees who can keep the shelves stocked rather than the shelves being empty because there were not enough employees. Protip: Store managers hide the actual condition of stores when corporate reps actually do come to stores. Make surprise visits on holiday nights and weekends to see reality.

I have been working at Walgreens (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have worked for the company at the same Store for 11 years. Love the regular customers and have had a great team to work with, most of the time. Good benefits, positive experiences with most team leaders.

    Cons

What happened? Not enough hours given to do required tasks,of regular employees, focusing less on departments like photo and removing department heads, assures more people know less about Store overall. Company cares less and less about making its employees happy, productive workers. It all about profit now.

    Advice to Management

Team leaders need to step up and do their job. More hours need to be given to assure the great customer service they expect. Give new employees more training in each department before scheduled there. Focus more on established employees. Senority ,loyalty, and consistent hard work should count for something! Don't try to focus so much on beauty alone.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time

    Pros

they have great insurance , you might meet a few customers and employees that you actually like.

    Cons

there is no opportunity to move up in the company, they overwork the good employees, do not get bonuses and raises sucks really, managers barely do any work, employees do not get recognition for their hard work, only get 5 excused days out of the whole year! just do not work for them company has change for the worse!

    Advice to Management

appreciate your employees more, give them opportunity to move up, put as much responsibility on managers, don't put so much pressure for things to get done on employees, it would be nice to hear good job and feel appreciated. do something nice once in awhile , better pay!
