I worked at Walgreens (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You learn how about insurances/claims, you quickly become familiarized with medications, and you occasionally meet nice customers.

    Cons

The company does not hire enough people for the volume of customers it has. As a tech you are not paid enough, in my opinion. I don't think you are valued as an employee for the hard work you put in for the company, especially the technicians. Staff within the pharmacy are all equally overworked.
It feels like you're working for a fast food company rather than a pharmacy.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Staff and immediate supervisors are dedicated and helpful. Pay and benefits are below market value. Working the pharmacy is unnecessarily stressful due to upper management's restriction of adequate inventory.

    Cons

Working weekends and difficult to get vacation time when you actually want it,

    Advice to Management

Loosen the purse strings. Pay staff fairly and stock pharmacy inventory appropriately.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Excellent training staff
-Some really good supervisors whom are always available to lend a hand
-For the most part good coworkers

    Cons

    -Overbearing, super nosey HR department
-A handful of really annoying supervisors
-A rather new super-enforced dress code that states you cannot wear TENNIS SHOES. That's right.. you can't wear regular comfortable shoes in a job where you SIT AT A DESK AND TALK ON A PHONE.
-PCC is always being hired for. Why? The call volume is absolutely insane. From the time you clock in until the time you leave your phone will blow up. It wasn't so bad 6 - 7 months ago but management has constantly added new stores across the country that use this feature which has also increased the difficulty level of the calls from simple refill requests and status checks to a neverending cycle of customers with insurance problems you can't explain (because the system we use does NOT give us full access to anything to do with insurance) to goof-ups the actual store does where we're powerless. Management has responded to this by further increasing our goals to the point where they truly seem unattainable by anyone unless you're a magician. I want you to imagine taking 200 - 250 calls per day and being faced with a goal of your average call time lasting 90 seconds. The "SOPs" they preach to have you follow are also extremely stupid and contradicting, many of them making no sense. Make no mistake this department is extremely stressful.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to all relax and enjoy life. Upper management needs to take a step back and really think about what they're expecting of these warm bodies they have sitting at these desks. Even the most talented agents are getting burned out.
