I have been working at Walgreens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits would be getting a chance to work in a hospital if you are good at your job. Flexible hours that allow students to pursue higher education.

    Cons

Depending on location, the high volume can be an issue.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time

    Pros

Company match on retirement. On the job training. Dedicated training material to help learn the job. It is fast paced. Lots to do. Challenging work.

    Cons

Current insurance plans of customers are challenging to figure out. Customers that come in angry and blame their issues on the staff. Mean customers.

I worked at Walgreens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, part-time and full-time available, decent discount and extra savings on walgreens brand items. Good training in the beginning and throughout employment so you are able to stay on top of things.

    Cons

Working here can be great or terrible depending on the manager. Started out great but was awful in the end when we got a new manager. He was a disgusting bully and would come in disguise to spy on people. Also very low pay and you won't receive your pay raise even when promised after the one year mark.

    Advice to Management

Be more careful when picking the managers on store and district level. Complaints from multiple employees were ignored even when the complaints were all the same, cleary showing there was an issue to address.

I have been working at Walgreens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Decent Pay for a while
    Fairly flexible schedule
Some good people to work with

Can't think of much else so my advice is don't drink the Kool Aid!

    Cons

Tough schedule, and I mean tough... You might as well not have a schedule, yeah it's retail but as a manager there can (should) be some sort of regularity.

Little room for advancement (w/o relocating)

Standardized pay means senior managers and new ones make almost the same amount

Almost all decisions about your future career are based on who likes you not what you have done or are capable of, it's all about networking (it's not what you know, it's who you bl0w!) at least in PA.

Now that ASM's are hourly there is no bonus we have absolutely no motivation to see our location succeed, nothing of ours is based on store performance. Take our money but demand the same performance or else!

    Advice to Management

Think before you do, bring back the 4-way test and truly use it. I have been with Walgreens for well over a decade, even through the recession and the Wasson years! Anyone who was there understands... The company is in a dangerous place, I believe that upper management knows where it wants to go and believes they know how to get there but there is a serious disconnect somewhere down the line. It's not our job at store level to diagnose and fix corporate issues but we do feel the consequenses. Please look and listen you are losing your senior talent, people you spent years and tons of money training. They are literally walking out the door to other companies because of the behavior at the district, area, and regional levels. I implore you to take action now.

    Pros

Team members you work with , decent benefits, opportunities for growth and relocation. Every day is different from the next.

    Cons

Cost cuts, position changes frequently, high expectations with little help. Small payroll budgets, having difficult conversations with underperforming employees. Minimal recognition for jobs well done.

    Advice to Management

    Be flexible
