I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Team building, motivational quotes, flexible work schedule. Just having the number 1 global retailer on your resume, is totally awesome.

    Cons

In hindsight, being the number 1 retailer (globally) doesn't equate to number 1 paying globally. Walmart demands so much of you (in casual setting). Without truly paying you your worth. My advice: know your worth before you come work for this employer.

    Advice to Management

The open door policy: could use some fine tuning. The internal promotion process could be restructured. Just to eliminate bias hiring/promotion selection process.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility with work schedule. Ability to make up time missed

    Cons

No real PTO until months after starting. Benefits aren't great. They are seeking people with accounting degrees, but paying them the same as people with no background in accounting. Also work has nothing to do with accounting. Hard to move up in the company as well. They post a lot of lateral moves, but no upward movement

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for individuals who actually have the background and the work performance to go with it.

I worked at Walmart (Less than a year)

    Pros

It seems like a nice place to work, there is the opportunity for growth, advancement, and flexibility. This is a situation where if it sounds too good to be true it is.

    Cons

Once you are hired associates are told a test will be given. You will have two attempts to pass it after four weeks of training. If you don't pass it you will be terminated on the spot. This should have been communicated during the hiring process not after an individual accepts a job offer for a permanent full-time position. There are several software systems created by Walmart you have to learn that fails on a regular basis. You have to take out your own trash and vacuum your work area. The restrooms are not clean on a consistent basis. Training is really teaching you because the workflows that are supposed to assist are overwhelmed assisting others. If this is what keeps you being the number retailer then continue, just remember giants can fall and fail like anything and anyone that takes advantage of good hardworking people.

    Advice to Management

Stop this practice immediately and be upfront with new hires before extending a job offer. This is unethical and shows a lack of integrity with the company. Not to mention the lack of negotiations on salary for educated individuals with a degree. This was the first red flag that should have prompted me to decline the offer.
