I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Every shift goes by fast as long as you stay busy and there's ALWAYS stuff to stay busy with.
Two 15 breaks, 1 hour lunch.
Pays more than any other entry level retail positions in my city + annual performance based raises.
If you're a good worker, you won't have to worry about getting hours cut ever.
    Very lax with attendance

    Cons

Very difficult to get time off approved
    Favoritism
    Co worker gossip/drama
    Day shift workers are annoying

    Advice to Management

Hold the lazy people accountable instead of making the hard working people pick up the slack and forgetting about it

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to advance quickly based upon performance is the main pro here. If you call in too much, you're chances of being promoted decrease drastically. Open door policy allows your voice to be heard. Attendance policy is pretty good (9 absences in a rolling 6 month period is a lot in my opinion). Fast vacation accrual for full time associates.

    Cons

Hard work and little pay, high expectations on certain tasks, mundane and tedious work, low pay, rude and sketchy customers, gossiping co-workers...the list goes on.

    Advice to Management

Some managers tend to be lazy while others work like a mule. Balancing managers out can increase morale in the store. As the saying goes, it rolls downhill. Listen and find solutions to associates problems instead of just "understanding" a situation. For the sake of all your employees, treat them good. They are there to work for you.

Advancement was there if you got to know the right people and could somehow make it work with the pay. Great discount after 6 months.

    Cons

Low pay, horrible benefits, uncaring management

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Its a job.

    Cons

low pay management is disconnected from what reality. They say they care so much about their employees and they will show it by given everyone a free lunch. but if you miss four days in six months, even if you are in the hospital.

    Advice to Management

recognize the good that people do let it stand for at least as much as someones mistakes.
