I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

    Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.

    Advice to Management

At the store level, any time you are called in to over ride an associate following company policy, make sure that you first make it clear to the associate and customer that they were doing their job and that you are making an exception.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Easy hire
    Easy job
The hours are good for a full-time college student because fabric closes at 10.
Management was very friendly and worked with my hours.

    Cons

    Most customers are rude
    Management knew nothing about fabrics
    Low staffed
So low staffed that when i was hired i was the only on working in fabrics.
Even lower staffed that they had me working basicly one half of the store,
usually with a manager. (seasonal, celebrations, sporting goods, toys and fabrics and crafts.)
    Lots of returns/

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Employee discounts and health insurance

    Cons

Management has a reputation for treating employees poorly. The open door policy is a joke. I worked in a store where a manager was sexually harassing an and nothing was done about it. The employee reportes it to the store manager and district management. There was solid proof and instead the wmployee was reprimanded and forced to quit after having their hours cut.

Wal-Mart frequently understaffs the stores and puts more work on their employees. Customer services suffers greatly because of this.
