I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great pay. Good people. Good work balance. Very little actual work.

    Cons

Unpredictable management. Some groups management is excellent. Some are worthless. Senior Executives don't care which is which. Highly political Extraordinary waste, of workers time, and company resources. Extremely hard to get out of Bentonville once you move there. Almost no other work is available from other companies. It is a much larger risk than you would think.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

They've really improved their pay to be more inline with the industry. There is a history of a great culture. in some parts of the business, the culture is alive and well. There is more opportunity than any single person can ever truly take full advantage of and the current CIO is pretty sharp. Doug McMillon is an amazing CEO and I truly hope he accomplishes what he has set out to do.

    Cons

The growth of the business and rapid influx of associates from other businesses has diluted and in some places fully undermined the original Walton culture. Walmart is struggling with how to make itself more relevant in the digital age. Office politics. Too many layers of management. Too many "Yes men, and women" who still don't understand what the real leaders expect, but they aren't going away...Too many fiefdoms within the kingdom...the central offices have become so bloated in some divisions that it is amazing anything gets accomplished...

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I work with people who care about you and your family. Stable employment. You work hard and do your job, they take care of you. They work very hard to make sure their associates are engaged and they care about what the associates think. Good benefits overall. Gives a lot to the community.

    Cons

Health benefits are competitive but can be better. Pay not the best but competitive. Stock price has been doing better last few years, but has stayed in a fixed range for a long time...
