I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you get full time you will most likely have a set schedule and you get great pto/sick time. The 10 percent discount is also nice especially on big electronics purchases. Work isn't difficult after learning the basics and while requesting vacation can be difficult you do earn up pto quickly. MyShare bonus can be really high if your store has good enough scores and you receive one every 6 months.

    Cons

Horrible treatment of hourly sales associates. Poor management and poor fellow associates with low work ethic. Either expect to do everyone else load of work or fall in line with all the other under achievers. No in between.

    Advice to Management

Watch you associates on the floor and be more gratuitous to the ones that work hard. Raise the expectations of workers and stop allowing slackers to do the bare minimum to keep their job.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Never have the same day. Lots to learn and will pick up a lot of talents

    Cons

Long hours during holidays, salaried managers have a lot of pressure put on them.

    Advice to Management

Look to see how you can take of your people better. Larger budget for associate relations.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay, meet different people everyday, hours are steady

    Cons

Management is horrible, not enough worker's, turnover rate is very high, point system, Dr note to excuse u from work doesn't count, you only get promoted if management likes you not based on ur work ethics

    Advice to Management

Stop clicking up with other management, be fair, I also think that you can work for a company as long as you want to, but management needs to moved around every so often . when your at a company for so long your opinons of things start to rub off on your click or crew and it's not fair or rite.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

decent pay if you don't need a personal life

    Cons

it is a huge political game to see who can get ahead, no matter who is hurt. That proverbial "open door" leads only to a closed window. Think you are "family"? Keep dreaming. If you drop dead tomorrow, there will be no tears.

    Advice to Management

If you have no conscious, at least grow a heart. Associates are people, first.

I have been working at Walmart full-time

    Pros

Know your business, respect your people. It is just as any other retail operation would operate, as long as you care for your position. Excellent pay, yet you must prove you can live up to the expectations.

    Cons

Be ready to work, retail is not 9-5. I was a store manager prior to entering WalMart, no different.

    Advice to Management

    None, we all work hard.

I have been working at Walmart full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Promotions are regular and very quick for those with talent and a good work ethic. Great people, friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

Long hours, brutal schedules (work most all weekends) and holiday shoppers can be frighteningly impatient and rude. However, that said, kill em with kindness and you can generally reverse their attitude.

    Advice to Management

Regardless of hiring freezes, short staffing, etc., you need to be on-hand for new employees to answer questions and be involved in the training process. trial by fire can be good, but left to sink, one will never recover without the tools to succeed.
