I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Very generous PTO
If store performs well enough, profit sharing that comes once a year can be a nice bonus
Company does believe in promoting from within and one does not need a college degree to be successful

    Cons

Long hours with no extra benefits come holidays, inventory time and whenever else the store is short handed
Turnover is extremely high for both management and associates, associates call in daily
Tenured Hourly Department Managers make more than salaried managers
Mandatory 50 hour weeks for salaried managers, usually its more

    Advice to Management

Learn all areas of the store

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great pay and excellent training

    Cons

Poor job security and constant threats.
District Mgrs seem out to catch you at something.....not helpful at all.

    Advice to Management

Stop the "Hunger Games" calibrations every year.
Way too obvious that people are being targeted when Mgrs who haven't been reprimanded in 20 years suddenky start racking them up out of nowhere.

I worked at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are great for the most part.

    Cons

Do not beliee what mnagement says about your job duties.
Their training is good when you get it...if you get it

    Advice to Management

Be real people. When an employee calls in with a bonafide family emergency, do not dock them for missing a days work. When youare guaranteed a job from management and you don't get it, well, that's bad for you because it makes you liars and hiring under false pretenses.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Growing company with many opportunities for advancement, Decent pay. many positions to help forge a career path within the company.

    Cons

Many unrealistic expectations placed on hourly associates. Many examples of favoritism/ nepotism exist. High Associate turnover rate , and the revolving door does not work for everyone equally.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to remember back to when they were an hourly employee and how it felt to them when their bosses treated them unfairly or gave rewards to those who didn't deserve them. Treat your associates more equally.
