I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you like to work, then this is the place for you! Same General Managers for 15, plus years. Some stability at the top. Insurance is decent. Benefits are good. There has been times I would have recommended this job. I cannot say enough good things about my Operations Manager. He is an asset to the company.

    Cons

New equipment that was supposed to make our jobs easier introduced. It did make it easier, but also made expectations higher! Engineers rolled out new times for our job without even coming to verify them. People that have been working there for years can no longer make production goals. Turnover has been high recently. Management admits to issues with the times, but tells us to hang in there. They will be fixed. It has been around 6 months now and nothing has been fixed. Working here will make you feel small from write ups, clothes will be ruined, you never really know what time your shift will end, your body will breakdown on you, you may have to work during breaks to make production goals. Favoritism is alive and well here.

    Advice to Management

Fix the times. The average person should be able to meet the production goal.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Discount, Stock options, 401K, Employed, Insurance.

    Cons

They keep taking stuff away! Sick Time is practically unusable now. Many people have over a 10 hours of Sick Time that can never be used. New standards without even sending an engineer to determine them for Orderfillers. This caused a loss of money for me. It will cost some their jobs! Turnover is bad already and about to get worse. Favoritism is all over. Orderfiller's are expected to help every area in need, but other job functions are not expected too. One of my manager's is unapproachable. He treats people like second class citizens most of the time. We used to get all kinds of little benefits like lunch, donuts, ice cream, gift cards, etc. Now we are lucky to get (1) donut for working 90 plus days safe. Be prepared to be written up a lot! They love to let you know when you are doing something wrong. I can do a great job for weeks, but if I did not put a pallet in the pallet return perfectly they will let you know! (About 2 inches in, but square up.) We have zero time to go to the bathroom now. Meetings are held during lunch time with no additional time given! 35 minutes for lunch, 5 minutes for meeting, stretching, and returning to your next move. 40 minutes total given. They use are 5 minute window for the meeting and always exceed 10 minutes! Some employees do not even go to the meeting. They are just trying to make production. Top 5 get extra hours after initial work is done to clean. Easy for a manager to manipulate this when they are assigning trips. Things are definitely on a downward trend!

    Advice to Management

You better start hiring a lot! Get your words trained for Orderfilling because you will be Orderfilling!

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid well, great exercise for those who are orderfillers. orderfiller incentive is really nice up to 30% of base pay added to check. I loved only working 36 hours a week 3 days a week and having 4 days off.

    Cons

Long hours sometimes 15 hour days. It takes a certain type of person to work at a grocery distribution center. The employees don't like it when there are really slow workers because they tend to get in the way.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be more programs for career growth.
