    Pros

It is easy work once you understand what your duties are in your department. The videos are a good foundation.

    Cons

You never know what you’re going to do from day to day. The direction for rules and procedures is constantly changing, depending on the manager.

    Advice to Management

Find a system to ensure a clear, cohesive message to all associates for how to do your job.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Without a doubt, helping the customers and creating an everlasting bond with your co-workers. It like a family, a Walmart family.

    Cons

One of the worst things was not having the tools, information, resources you need in order to perform your job in the most productive manner.

    Advice to Management

Appreciation really does go a long way. Sales floor team, cashiers - these people are working their hardest to assist every customer. A sincere thank you.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Has opportunity for advancement for the right person, gives great experience working for a large company, lots of diversity in the employees as well as the customers

    Cons

As a salaried manager they will work you to death, work life balance is not something they believe in anymore, they encouraged us managers to delegate "one level down" which creates a disconnect between each level of employee, team work is a joke everyone is in it for themselves and will have no problem throwing someone under a bus to save their own skin, too many people give too many conflicting priorities/ tasks which makes it difficult to give clear direction.

    Advice to Management

I was an ASM for over 6 years and worked my way up over a 10 year career. I was always a people manager who loved developing and teaching new employees (and sometimes seasoned) to grow and embrace their strengths. Toward the end of my career I was discouraged to embrace my management style because the job became more task oriented to the point where I couldn't even use employees to get tasks done because there wasn't enough of them. If I wanted to go home on time (which never happened after a 12 hour shift) I had to become the one who had to unload the truck or zone apparel. Walmart has gone away from their core values introduced by Mr Sam and my advice is to go back to taking care of your employees because they will then take care of your customers.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

10% employee discount, know when rare/marked down items things are in stock before customers of course.

    Cons

Doing multiple things at once on top of customers, a lot of times it can just be you and one other person working the department (electronics) The pay should be higher than $10 at least

    Advice to Management

Not working in our own department/ doing projects that's not in our department (even though it's called helping) just tells me I should be getting paid more. Bottom line is they don't pay you enough to care. I

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I get money, sadly every 2 weeks.

    Cons

Rude, not enough hours, but good first job to have pocket change. Could not live on this though.

    Advice to Management

They cant change the starting pay, so only they can live off their salary, which is okay for me I guess.

Straightforward job. Constantly engaged. Unloading/ Recieving, Stocking, Customer Service. Versatile.

    Cons

Management inconsistency. This is not a poor reflection of the company, just personal experience.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with solutions established in meetings.
