  1. "Terrible place to work. Upper management treat employees terribly."

I have been working at Walmart full-time

    Pros

You get basic benefits, insurance, 401K, etc.

    Cons

Benefits aren't the best. Treatment of average hourly employees is, for lack of a better word, often verbally abusive. Not a lot of opportunity for advancement-you have to be in favor before you'll get promoted. Horrible hours.

    Advice to Management

Management is always preaching "Respect for the Individual" but they fail miserably at practicing it themselves.

I worked at Walmart part-time for more than a year

    Pros

OK wages, decent benefits, some really nice co-workers and customers. We had an awesome co-manager, who is now store manager, who does things the way Sam Walton envisioned.

    Cons

Rude and nasty customers, never enough cashiers, management not scheduling enough help and then yelling at you because you have lines building up, they say no reprisal for their "open door" policy...but there is, most employees are part time and at different times throughout the year you may be cut down to as low as 16 hours a week. Staffing in general is a huge problem, never enough staff to cover for breaks and lunches.

    Advice to Management

Only one piece of advice, schedule more people. You are always busy, so make the employees and customers happy and have all 22 lines open and two or three people to give breaks and lunches!

    "Expects too much"

Current Employee - Department Manager in Moline, IL

I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good place to start out in retail, discount, co-workers and some customers.

    Cons

Management expects too much then gives poor evaluations preventing raises or advancement. Not enough help, leadership, pay, handling operations issues.

    Advice to Management

Some assistant managers can help out more to get things done. There is too much sitting in the office and chatting. To Corporate office and Regional managers: Don't let store managers know when you are coming. If you really want to see how a store is ran, pop in unexpectedly. Check out the high turnover.

    Advice to Management

communicate with each other more often before wanting something built or moved. seems like a lot of double work sometimes for not
