I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is great to work at e-commerce for walmart because there is so much that you can learn. You can also learn the functions of all different parts of the store and how it truly works together to make a great experience for the customer.

    Cons

Sometimes there are associates who don’t pull their weight and more weight falls on those who are the hardest workers.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to develop people so you can delegate more and grow your relationships with employees to keep talent up and promotions in the company.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent paying job in rural areas

    Cons

If you're not a dept mgr, you're schedule varies and its impossible to have commitments. Hours can be cut any time, positions done away with frequently, management is clueless.

    Advice to Management

Hire from within. Seriously. No one that has a good head on their shoulders inside your company wants to be promoted because Salary positions at Walmart are awful. Work, Work, Work.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, opportunity to advance, decent benefits, great coworkers, builds character

    Cons

You train yourself, lack of integrity with assistant managers, understaffing, low morale, individuals are not treated with respect, the amount of work can be overwhelming

    Advice to Management

It would help tremendously if management did not pretend we were fully staffed and acknowledged we had a lot of work to do with little resources. Management support would be nice as well. They wrote scheduled but had no idea when someone was scheduled alone. They weren't present, and I'm sure they had their own plates full as well, but they lacked concern. We are told to greet everyone within 10 feet- they do not seem to look at customers or smile at them for the most part. They hold us to standards they do not meet themselves. Value your hard working employees and support them. Get to know them. Be willing to help them find answers and solutions. Know who is scheduled. CARE when someone is stuck alone with an enormous amount of work. Acknowledge, be aware of how much they are expected to do.

    Pros

Benefits, pay is decent for what you do.

    Cons

Always worried about cutting hours when we already don’t have enough staff
The constant drastic changes, then changing it back, really effects us all and makes us spend more time retraining our people.

    Advice to Management

Some departments like OGP shouldn’t have to worry about hours especially when understaffed. Constantly having to work over and cut my time later on and I rarely have time to cut it. I love OGP but hours should be raised above expectations because everyday your walking into something unexpected. I also think GIF should ask you if your sure you want to accept an exception. Please if anything fix this.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is decent and quarterly bonuses. If you find the right store you can find a manager willing to help you grow with the company. They send managers to the academy stores for extra training.

    Cons

You have to follow the one best way process but depending on the size of your department you probably find it difficult to get anything else done around your department to make it look good. Managers will give you a hard time about it even if your doing the things you need to be doing. Managers are not supportive and bring down morale but will think they are great.

    Advice to Management

It all starts at the top, starting with the market managers to the store managers. Continual trading on best management practices and attitudes need to be implemented for salaried managers. If the market manager come around telling your entire store they suck that doesn’t help morale that is already low. Management needs to learn to be more supportive of their department managers which will help increase morale. Most people don’t come to work wanting to do a bad job, they want to do good work and if managers support them they will see better results and morale boost.
