I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Able to push myself to be more and provide for my family without having a degree. Able to build life long friendships.

    Cons

Interviews for promotions have nothing to do with what you are doing positively to improve the business and your talents but who you know. Compensation is ok for salary, but for the amount of hours poured into roles and spending a minimum of 2-4 hours with family a day, it’s not a plus. Store leaders and upper leadership use evaluations as a threat which you fear that time of year when this should be a positive feedback for good or bad performance.

    Advice to Management

Salary managers are associates with this company too. They need incentives and rewards to strive for more, it’s a psychological thirst for humans. There is no scheduling benefit or compensation benefits to want to promote in roles of salary. The leaders of the home office need to look deeper into how the field management promotes in salary, it’s favored by who you know instead of who has the talent and potential to drive the company into the future. Promotions are pre-picked prior to interview.
