I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Minimal expectations, does not force/allow overtime, no night shifts unless you are on that team

    Cons

Had to do far more than the job description asked for while knowing that refusal would not be favorably looked upon. This includes very labor intensive tasks which the older/larger associates are not asked to do.

    Advice to Management

If you actually want people to do their best, give incentive for hard work. If people know no matter what they do they will still be paid the same, then you will just get people arriving 9 minutes late and leave 14 minutes early every time (like right now).

    I worked at Walmart part-time

    Pros

I think one of the pros I can for sure say is the pay. The yearly raises are generous along with the review. The other pro is the ability to climb up the management ladder. They give a lot of opportunities to move up.

    Cons

I think the biggest problem I found in the company was communication, point system, and lack of understanding. If ran into an issue during my work hours and needed an answer either management didn't know or gave me all different answers. The point system was very unforgiving and if you personal problem or illness it was easy to get in trouble and they base all of their ideas of us on a point system that is too harsh. And lastly upper management didn't have much empathy no matter the situation. Personally I had gotten a stomach flu over the weekend and missed two days of work. I gotten in trouble with points because of it. The manager that talked with me suggested I should have just come in and be miserable. That was my worst experience with them.

    Advice to Management

As conveyed in my cons section, the biggest things that need to recognized is communication with each other and to remember to be open minded with your employees.
