I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

*management tries to work with you
*fast paced environment which causes time to go by fast

    Cons

*they keep the lazy associates around which causes the hard working associates to quit or not care
    *employee gossip

    Advice to Management

*don’t create a working environment for your loyal associates that’s filled with hostility from other associates
*keep hiring managers who have the best interest in mind for their associates. A manager who is respectful towards their associates creates an associate who values their job and the company.

I have been working at Walmart full-time

    Pros

Picking is super easy. Days go by fast when theres good employees working that day/ when it is organized and main manager is there.

    Cons

*Dept. Manager doesnt know what he is doing more than half of the time. Puts the wrong totes on the wrong times. Substitutes items that aRE WAY OFF, like substitues regular angus beef with SPICY BEEF?? Or lettuce with ASPARAGUS??
*Same people dispensing but not switching it around, sometimes people dont want to dispense and want to switch
*Very unorganized, dept manager makes everyone go to lunch and only 1 person is dispensing, and has to help 4 customers at same time??
*never enough people, eveyone wonder off somewhere and never get introuble.
*not enough training to new employees.

    Advice to Management

Dont be lazy and help your employees out, schedule people for lunch right. Switch people around from dispensing and picking. And add a night time manager!!!

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work with great people. Everyone has potential to become management.
We earn quarterly bonuses based on sales, profit, accidents, and score cards.
Great starting wage around this area of $11.
If you work hard and are friendly within your area ya should do great.

    Cons

Managers are hypocrites. They preach to say hi or can I help you if anyone’s within ten feet of me, but THEY do not practice this rule at all.
And most are just not friendly to us associates.

    Advice to Management

Be humble, remain friendly no matter what, speak to associates because a lot of us have college degrees, life experience, and worked as Mngmnt before.
You’ll never know unless you speak to us!

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of wonderful people and an abundance of opportunity if you are willing to work for it. The work can be rewarding if you ask for feedback and take pride in your work.
It is fun and there is something new everyday.
Allowed freedom over department due to "Store within a store" ideal.

    Cons

There is little to no training for department specific items, utilize youtube for specialized departments.
Too many department managers for higher management to give much feedback either positive or negative.
Physically wearing if you are a hard worker.
Corporate does not make decisions based on workers, yes they are running a business but when your only associate who has been in Sporting Goods for 10 years gets tossed out the door because of the new scheduling since he cannot work nights, there is something wrong. They need to take company loyalty into account. Respect those who have spent a better part of their life with them.

    Advice to Management

Spread assignments around rather than finding a few hard workers and relying on them. Stop letting the sub-par management float by, encourage them to work harder and retrain where necessary. Don't let them sink and leave them there.

    Cons

People put you down way too often. Depressing envorment. Favortism and people looked over for jobs they are qualified for. Can only go so far without favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Be as transparent and as fair as humanly possible and if you arent being fair then give the decision over to a 3rd party.
