I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Easy to be hired and move around.

    Cons

    Low pay.
Terrible Vacation and sick time policy.
    Don't value ideas from employees.
Expect everyone to compromise what would work better in order to implement and follow new policies.
To be management you must sell your soul.
Too many cons to write out.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people its what Sam Walton did and it is why Walmart got to where it is, but now it is crashing and burning.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a cashier with some really fun people. Also, in general, my bosses were helpful and understanding.

    Cons

There was too much training we had to do in areas that didn't affect the cashiers.

    Advice to Management

I would have liked to have seen more consistency in managers' training.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall, the work is not really that bad. Most associates are friendly and very helpful. Support Managers and Shift Managers try and do what is right.

    Cons

Managers are put in a very difficult position, they are not allowed to manage because of lack of proper staffing. They are mostly overpaid stockers. They get all the complaints from the associates and are severely lectured by the store manager because all work and special projects aren't completed when the store manager decides they should be done. Customer service has dropped tremendously because 75% of the floor associates on evenings and nights can't speak or understand English. They also can't read English so stocking is not completed and shelves are severely under stocked. Associates are expected to complete multiple areas without working ANY overtime. If an associate does have any overtime they are expected to "cut" the overtime by the end of the week. This starts a cycle of clocking in late to cut overtime and then staying late to finish the days work. Never could figure out the logic of this. My advice is to work day shift, less is expected and when your shift is over you are allowed to clock out and go home while the overnight shift has to finish their work before they are allowed to leave.

    Advice to Management

Try and keep your good associates and make sure there aren't double standards for the people that work for you. Let the managers do their job.
