I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The relationships you build with customers and coworkers can be lovely if you are the type to bust your butt. If you specialize into a department it is pretty fulfilling despite being retail.

    Cons

Extremely hit or miss management, mostly miss, pay increase opportunities do not exist anymore you will get more of a raise from the minimum wage increases than the actual merit-based raises even at "exceeds expectations" and then everyone who started years after you is instantly making the same amount, just to show your experience counts for squat to the company number wise.

    Advice to Management

Stop running skeleton or less crews so that associates are forced to call management to watch their breaks/lunches in the full-service departments like Deli, the large Jewelry Departments, and TLE. We all know you guys are always too busy and don't come in a timely manner if at all. Also don't think that the garden associate should be cross-trained to work as a service writer if their manager is never going to let them cover because you never discussed it with their manager as well. Communicate with each other, leave notes, something.

I have been working at Walmart full-time

    Pros

Good Pay, Good Trucks Plenty of work

    Cons

nothing to look forward to any more. Took every thing away, making every one run wild, no set runs any longer

    Advice to Management

quite thinking about yourself and the board members and start thinking about your long term associates. WE DID HELP THIS COMPANY TO GET TO WHERE IT IS TODAY. I forgot there is no Wal-Mart people runing this company any longer, and that's a shame. SAM would not be happy at all !!
