I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Will hire people with a bad record. Part time employees get benefits, they have 401k. Every 3 months they give a bonus

    Cons

They do not treat their employees well. They don't pay well, your overworked and under paid, raises once a year are only $0.10

    Advice to Management

Lots of chances to advance to management but not worth the headache for the little raise in pay you would get.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You earn $0.50 more than minimum wage for working overnight. You get a 10% discount when shopping at Walmart, although you any get the discount after working there for 3 months.

    Cons

You don't get health benefits until you've worked at Walmart for a year. You don't get 401K matching until you've worked there for a year. You have to buy heavy-duty gloves or else your hands will get scrapes and cuts.

    Advice to Management

Don't try to unnecessarily over-stress employees. You get 'task times' that are based on things already being in carts in the aisles and based on your not needing to assist customers but you get the freight on pallets and have to 'break down' those pallets and you're supposed to help customers. Then you may get more pallets. And sometimes a manager might try to 'stress' that you should have been completed by your task time.

Perhaps moreover is happy employees are productive employees. There was a short time in which it seemed my hours were lowered because the managers wanted to see if I could do the same amount of work with fewer work hours. I was hired at part-time with at least 32 hours a week but there were a few times in which I only got 24 hours.

    Advice to Management

    Respect and people will respect

    -Alot of hours
    -25 percent off during xmas

    Cons

    -lack of communication
    -customers
    -managers ignore you

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and there needs. We get your getting pressure from Co managers
and other parts but treating employees like second hand citizens is just wrong.

I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    discounts
    unique people to work with
    the break is nice
You get to work within the photo department, so its secluded from the rest of the store

    Cons

    no holidays off
    customers can be rude
the manager can also be rude
Some days can be very slow and you might be sent home early

    Advice to Management

Be more understanding and allow people to take sick days off when they are SICK. For the most part the staff was ok, I did not dread to go to work.
