I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

High starting rate, good people and direct managers.

    Cons

Senior Staff do not make great decisions.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your Area Managers and Associates

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job experience & skills learned, stepping stone job, not a life long job. No other pros but glass door requires 20+ words.

    Cons

    Management

Hours - required to have 24/7 open avalibility.

Part time unless your a member of management or a supervisor.

    Stressful

    Work/life balance is non-existant

Benefits for part time & full time suck

Equipment - slow, useless crap - also, very slow wifi to run the equipment on. Wifi & Bluetooth conn actions always drop and require you to re-sign in to use it.

Pay was some what ok, not minimum wage, but still poor effort on Walmarts count.

    Bad work environment.

Constantly forced to lie to customers or be fired.

If a customer doesn't like you, all they have to do is tell an assistant manager that you disrespected them with a justifiable cause (even if you didn't) & your instantly fired without warning. That fear is always over your head.

    Advice to Management

Treat your associates with value, don't just look at them like their another number to pay & that they are easily replaceable.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Entry level management starting salary has increased $7k/yr

    Cons

Move up quick, or you'll get stuck and overlooked.

    Advice to Management

Your long term associates have more loyalty and knowledge than someone hired outside of the company for less pay.

I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good hours; never got asked to leave early. Freedom to start your own projects. Didn't have management breathing down your neck like at other jobs.

    Cons

Kind of boring. You either were swamped with work to do or you had absolutely nothing to do so you just waited around cleaning for a customer to show up.

    Advice to Management

Give your employees more projects to do so they aren't standing around all day. Don't expect them to do three peoples' jobs because you didn't schedule enough people, however.

    Pros

I was able to take on more tasks and handle my job professionally. I was with the company for about a total of 4 and a half years

    Cons

The cons about the job i would have to say would be the lack of communication. the only other con would be not enough hours

    Advice to Management

The advice i would have to give to management would be to have communication is key in the work place

  8. "Excellent company to work for until they started making cuts to many positions. Not the same company it used to be."

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, training programs for management.

    Cons

Not enough help but many things expected to be done with not enough employees to complete.

    Advice to Management

They need to go back to the company values that Sam Walton wanted his company to be all about. The employees always came first with him. Now it is all about the profits.
