I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Enjoyed working independently and training other Assistants. This position requires a self starter and computer knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

    Cons

Recent changes such as restructure of the market team can be stressful and if you aren't lucky enough to be in a high value market, your position could be eliminated.

    Advice to Management

Please turn in your collectibles on time and as requested. As an Administrative Assistant we have deadlines to get your information turned in to upper levels of management.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding on good days.

    Cons

Extremely understaffed, with an unsupportive management team.

    Advice to Management

Try to offer some words of encouragement to boost morale and make your employees feel valued. Also, try not to assign an impossible workload that makes them feel like failures after every shift.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    My pay is fantastic.

    Cons

As I have associates leave or transfer, I am not allowed to replace. I have been there almost 9 years. Started with 5 fulltime and 1 part time associate. I now have 3 fulltime at 34 hours and 1 part time at 20. I have less staff because I have long term associates so the pay is higher. They are telling me I am still over on payroll. Ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

Give us payroll hours, not dollars. We can exceed patient expectations that way.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If management is good, the store will be good. My first store the assistant managers were amazing, and it felt great to get a lot of work done in a day.

    Cons

If management sucks, the store sucks the life out of you. Truly isn't worth it.

Can be understaffed a lot. This can be frusturating because I had to run up the register for 30-45 minutes then get talked to if i didn't get everything i needed to get done, done.

    Advice to Management

Respect all your associates, listen to them, and promote actively. This helps morale. Don't forget to get your hands dirty.

I worked at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everything pretty much overall great company to work for would do it again...

    Cons

A lot of employees don’t like to work
You only get a 10% discount and a lot of stuff it does not work on.It should work on food but it doesn’t..

    Advice to Management

    Practice what Sam preached
    Greet the customer!!!
And employees!! Half the managers don’t greet customers nor employees

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hours, ok pay, other employees are friendly, loved working with customers

    Cons

Had a manager snap her fingers at me clenching her teeth and pointed where she wanted me to stand. A customer saw this and said she felt bad for me.
She also wanted me to get a couple of customers over to self check out, but I already talked to them and they were waiting for someone. When I told my manager that, she told me , “I don’t care then YOU check them out!”
Very snotty. Also my shift ended at 9:00pm, but I waited around for 20 minuets for another manager to send someone over to replace me. I tried sending them a code twice, no manager talked to me or showed up and no one ever came to relieve me so I left.

    Advice to Management

Don’t talk down and nasty to employees!
Don’t assume that employees are not doing their job. And DONT EVER snap your fingers at them!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and just WRONG!!
