I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the.interaction with the customers and staff. Duties were fully explained so you knew what was expected of you. Supervisors and Assistant Managers were available if you needed their help. Work hours were great. I am a morning person so I did get day hours early start.

    Cons

Sort on employees a lot. Cashiers were always needed. When I went through the store on break I would let the customers know if a line was shorter so they didn't have to wait.

    Advice to Management

Keep more cashiers hired. Have a stand by on call list..

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I had a unique job at Walmart that I'll be honest, made me feel special :)

I was on a team that was responsible for fulfilling online customer orders. Everyday we had fulfillment targets and it was always a fun challenge to work as a team to get the job done as quickly as possible. When we completed our main job, we would then have the opportunity to stock shelves, unload trucks or do other things that were needed. For the most part, it was fun work.

One of the big benefits working for Walmart is the opportunity for career advancement. This is somewhat dependent on your education, but what job isn't? While I didn't pursue further employment, I discussed my choices with upper management and if desired, could have continued a career at one of their HQs.

    Cons

While I appreciate how motivated my managers were, sometimes they were insensitive and flat out rude.
Co-workers were not always helpful. Sometimes lacked a team spirit.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees at all times - treat them as equals and value their opinions

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Was able to get hired there, okay pay, had 401k and benefits-health, vision to choose from, had flexible hours and employee discount card

    Cons

Got away from holiday pay, had to do pathways and the annual pay raises were low-like 2% of your hourly pay

    Advice to Management

Be more positive and give encouragement

I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent wage for high school and college students
    Quarterly share bonus
    Not hard to train

    Cons

Allows customers to be rude to cashiers
    Scheduling issues
Lack of transparency about new policies

    Advice to Management

Please be more open about changes to schedules. I have had to go in several times to fix my schedule because the new system has been giving me shift times outside my availability.

A little appreciation goes a long way. Flexible scheduling would be great.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

there are no pro's this place sucks your soul out of you

    Cons

i wish i could say that walmart was a great place to work but the management team there is horrible I gave my 2 week notice and asked to stay but they told me i had to wait another 6 MONTHS to come back even though they are hiring for everything.

    Advice to Management

you should all quit and find something that you're actually good at because when you have managers that talk about people with children that are sick with other employees that aren't management I am pretty sure you shouldnt be in the position you are in. its to bad that i have to actually rate this.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are a college student Walmart is about as good as it gets. You have endless opportunity working in store, DC, or Home Office. I have never met any company so flexible with scheduling.

    Cons

People hold negative views about Walmart and that will transfer to you.

    Advice to Management

The store level managers are key to your success. Most salaried managers are working well over 40 hours and get burned out. Keep good talent.

    Pros

Awesome Benefits, but only for full time

    Cons

    Coworkers take really long breaks
Promotion - Management, usually, has someone in mind before they give out the required interviews

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Highest paying retail store in the area. Coworkers are willing to help, and care. Great incentives with programs like "MyShare".

    Cons

Favoritism and retaliation are very much real and alive. Often setup to fail, as process is never on tract. ASM, Co-Manager, and Store Manager often give different conflicting directions which in return causes confusion.

    Advice to Management

Encourage your team and make them feel as though they are important and let them know that they truly do make the difference, if they don’t put their best in and don’t care then the store will surely reflect that
