I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the.interaction with the customers and staff. Duties were fully explained so you knew what was expected of you. Supervisors and Assistant Managers were available if you needed their help. Work hours were great. I am a morning person so I did get day hours early start.

    Cons

Sort on employees a lot. Cashiers were always needed. When I went through the store on break I would let the customers know if a line was shorter so they didn't have to wait.

    Advice to Management

Keep more cashiers hired. Have a stand by on call list..

I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you come to work with a smile, the right attitude, and the demeanor to tackle any obstacle your way, then everything will be smooth sailing.

    Cons

If you're not feeling 100%, then you will not have a pleasant experience. In fact, quite the opposite.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites, make fair schedules, let your younger associates have some time to themselves once in a while and offer opportunities for full time, not empty promises.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I had a unique job at Walmart that I'll be honest, made me feel special :)

I was on a team that was responsible for fulfilling online customer orders. Everyday we had fulfillment targets and it was always a fun challenge to work as a team to get the job done as quickly as possible. When we completed our main job, we would then have the opportunity to stock shelves, unload trucks or do other things that were needed. For the most part, it was fun work.

One of the big benefits working for Walmart is the opportunity for career advancement. This is somewhat dependent on your education, but what job isn't? While I didn't pursue further employment, I discussed my choices with upper management and if desired, could have continued a career at one of their HQs.

    Cons

While I appreciate how motivated my managers were, sometimes they were insensitive and flat out rude.
Co-workers were not always helpful. Sometimes lacked a team spirit.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees at all times - treat them as equals and value their opinions

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Always options for overtime if you are willing.

    Cons

Everything about the experience is miserable, management doesn’t know what they are doing and half the time you have to train them for some of the simplest things like using a register. Between the constant lack of staffing and the staff that does show up being apathetic towards their employment and roles it just makes a miserable environment.

    Advice to Management

Try to remember what it was like to be an associate, and treat your employees the way you would have wanted your manager to treat you.

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Was able to get hired there, okay pay, had 401k and benefits-health, vision to choose from, had flexible hours and employee discount card

    Cons

Got away from holiday pay, had to do pathways and the annual pay raises were low-like 2% of your hourly pay

    Advice to Management

Be more positive and give encouragement

I worked at Walmart part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some nice co worker's, free meals at times in breakroom . Easy scheduling it's all done online/App you can pick up shifts easy.

    Cons

Rude management, micromanaged work. Employees looked miserable some not friendly at all. Management talks down to you, like you're incompetent. All around soul sucking job! Huge turnover rate because of management. Work holidays and no holiday pay just a dumb voucher for 15% of merchandise which is a slap in the face. Also there orientation is a joke, they literally take you on a scavenger hunt around store and play games and watch movies all day. Also long online training until you can actually train on the floor with pathways. All around just not worth it!

    Advice to Management

Treat you're employees like people and maybe they would work harder for you.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent wage for high school and college students
    Quarterly share bonus
    Not hard to train

    Cons

Allows customers to be rude to cashiers
    Scheduling issues
Lack of transparency about new policies

    Advice to Management

Please be more open about changes to schedules. I have had to go in several times to fix my schedule because the new system has been giving me shift times outside my availability.
