I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is great. Fast PTO earnings.

    Cons

The learning curve is a bit too short and the talkman (voice activated computer) is a nightmare sometimes...

    Advice to Management

I wish there was an alternative to the talkman. i.e. Something that isn't voice activated, like a scanner.

I worked at Walmart (More than a year)

    Pros

They promote the idea of respecting the individual
They often hear out any issues that you have, usually.

    Cons

They may lie to you about your status with the company
Sometimes they prefer to play smoke and mirror when it comes to issues
No communication among the management team

    Advice to Management

Don't lie to your employees if they are in trouble.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Advancement opportunities, full time hours, customer interactions, fair compensation, plenty of work, always interesting , health benefits and paid time off

    Cons

Under staffed 94% of the time. Inventory replenishment system needs improvement desperately

    Advice to Management

It would be wise to make a very small investment into staffing the stores better. This would improve customer and associate satisfaction by keeping shelves stocked, being available to help customers, especially in service departments, and would improve your employee retention.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My manager was not constantly hovering over my shoulder and allowed me to make decisions as I saw fit.

    Cons

Terrible work/life balance. Employees are treated like they are disposable. Walmart chooses profit over people every time. Employees are not treated fairly -- employee discipline and accountability is based on personal relationships with management. Managers are under paid for the amount of hours they are required to work.

    Advice to Management

Treat people fairly. There are some people in management at this DC who are corrupt and dishonest. They made it a miserable place to work. I saw managers stealing often and when I tried to report it, it was brushed under the rug. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Will stay busy all shift. Lots of coworkers to interact with. Pay has gotten better. Advancement opportunities are present. Super quiet during 3rd shift hours.

    Cons

Scheduling issues if not explained to management. Females don’t make bales or unload trucks. Requesting time off is hard to get.

    Advice to Management

Need to communicate better amongst themselves. Learn how to properly schedule people. Reward your harder working employees compared to the lazy employees.

I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay...depending on the department you are in.

    Cons

The favoritism, the belittling and constantly having everyone on your team being told they will get coached for the tiniest thing and above all the bullying i endured every day i came into work.

    Advice to Management

Try listening to your employees when they voice concerns about troubles they are having with other employees. A person shouldn't have to be subjected to a hostile work environment.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Easy to be hired and move around.

    Cons

    Low pay.
Terrible Vacation and sick time policy.
    Don't value ideas from employees.
Expect everyone to compromise what would work better in order to implement and follow new policies.
To be management you must sell your soul.
Too many cons to write out.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people its what Sam Walton did and it is why Walmart got to where it is, but now it is crashing and burning.
