I worked at Walmart (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy work. Could come in late and no one cares. There's a lot of time time to just screw around and hangout with your work buddies.

    Cons

    - Benefits suck
    - Building smells like Chinese rubber

    Advice to Management

    Be more like CostCo

I worked at Walmart as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked for Walmart Ecom out of the Hoboken, NJ - Jet.com office. Zero pros.

    Cons

    Worst job I ever had.

Where to begin? First, you're treated like a number. Nobody cares about your onboarding. Ran into several other new hires who still felt like fish out of water after more than a month on the job. Being based out of NJ when most of the team is in CA was terrible. Even working off-site most days couldn't compensate for the fact that when you do come in, you don't have an assigned seat and nobody cares or even knows that you're there.

And don't even get me started on the programs you have to learn just to be able to carry out the most mindless, mundane and menial tasks. Doing a 5 minute job routinely required 30 minutes or more.

Can't believe I picked this place over another offer - yes, the other company was offering a bit less pay, but they couldn't pay me enough to work here ever again.

    Lesson learned.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to inundate people with a mess of unnecessary systems, invest in better onboarding/training programs. And train managers to be better leaders.

    Pros

Great training ground for retail and eCommerce

    Cons

    No upward trajectory, inexperienced managers

    Advice to Management

promote those who start at the bottom rather than bring people from Walmart stores. The chemistry doesn't match up well right now
