    Pros

Decent pay. Plenty of opportunity to learn new things if your ambitious.

    Cons

No real direction. Managers are often un organized which results in many different directions being given and not enough training. The work is very physical and the store is always short staffed which means you get pulled everywhere... and they will always expect more.

    Advice to Management

Train your people properly, don't exploit good workers, stop the 2% raises and give them real money. Hire more people. You hurt moral and customer service by not having enough workers in the sales floor and cash registers.

    Pros

Great for college students or retirees looking for some extra income. Decent discount, and you make many great friends.

    Cons

Managers are willing to work against other managers in the store, as long as it means they get ahead. Some managers are very friendly, and easy to talk to -- others could use an attitude adjustment. An individual cannot expect to make a living from the hourly positions. The department managers and assistants are the only ones who could make an OKAY living. Even the Assistants salaries are pitiful. (I know because they told me) Managers put in ridiculous hours for a small return. If you are "grandfathered" into the system, you cannot make time and a half on Sundays anymore. Not even the DOLLAR EXTRA!

    Advice to Management

Be nice, optimistic, and work with associates and other members of management so everyone wins! Go back to the old ways of

    Pros

you have an optional 1 hour lunch

    Cons

they have started implementing many new policies and procedures while cutting down on technician and pharmacist hours, also changing our hours of operation 3 times in the last year, frustrating customers.

    Advice to Management

listen to the little guys! we are the ones who deal with the procedures youve put in place.

    Pros

It's a safe place to work when it comes to relying on always having a job. The starting pay is higher than similar jobs, most similar jobs for that fact. The discount is always nice, the people where I work at least are great to be around.

    Cons

Not to complain too much, but the discount doesn't cover food, except for fresh produce, remodeling takes place way too often, and customer complaints during remodel are outrageous. Yearly evauluations aren't given exactly after you've been working for a year. This is unfair in my opinion, becasuse the amount of raise you are given depends on your work performance, and if you have been working 9 months instead of a year, you feel cheated out of 20 cents because 3 more months of experience were not permitted to you. The customers are very rude, and they do always speak their exact opinion. Management doesn't really care about your opnion, especially if you're young, and this is very evident. At least where I work. It's really too large of a company, I don't like working for it.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the workers, or at least pretend to. Try to respect your employees, even if they're just there for a job during the summer, or a job while they finish school for another year. They deserve respect no matter what the length of their employement is.
